I'm just really glad they didn't all come polished from the factory.
I have seen the polished-out ones (online) which I think can be a hazard to other drivers on a sunny day.

I have see a white wrapped one (aka "Chinese Takeout Carton) and a black wrapped one (which actually looks like an F117 Nighthawk fighter plane....and is actually kinda' cool looking).

There are several CT around where we live, most wrapped in various colors.

I often see them on the freeways and streets. I've gotten used the look and now it blends in along with all other trucks of every kind, since many people customizes their trucks.

Personally I like it, but I would never buy any truck since I have no need or desire to own any truck. My wife, who hated the look has gotten used to it and has grown on her to the point that she recognizes the value of what CT represents.

The fact that people talk about it has done so much for CT and Tesla awareness. Folks on any auto websites clearly are aware but the others no so much.

My wife teaches after school program to elementary school kids and when asked about EVs, they all say either Tesla or CT. Like all smartphones are iPhone.

I'm glad it exists too just because it gives people more choice for an EV truck and while that may not be the best thing for Rivian specifically, it's good to help the advancement/adoption of EVs into the future. But honestly though, the Cybertruck to my eyes is still an extremely ugly POS and I wouldn't be caught dead in one. :)

I respect other peoples choices but, it's not my cup of tea. There are some designs that I really like and others I'm not fond of at all. I do like the Tesla 3 and S. Not a fan of the rest of them. I do like the VW GTi but not a fan of any other VWs. As far as the exterior design, my favourite one is the 911 but my wife doesnt like it.

I applaud Tesla for making the CT. The world needs to get past the ubiquitous box-on-box style of vehicle designs. More car designs like the Aptera (form follows function) are needed.

I question why people are so reluctant to look up how to take care of the CT’s steel body panels. A CT at a Maserati dealership next to me used something that tinted the steel to something purple. Sure , people use acetone-based products on normal paint and ruin them too but you would think someone would at least check how to clean stainless steel.
I love that Cybertruck exists too. But I may be biased because it's all I've been driving for the last 2 1/2 months, except for one trip in my Model 3 Performance. Then it was right back to driving the Cybertruck everywhere. This is the first time in my life I preferred to drive my truck over my car.

As to caring for the stainless steel, it's super simple. I just wash it with a bucket of soapy water and a long-handled truck washing brush, hose sprayer and then towel dry with a microfiber cloth. Works great and comes out looking sparkling clean.

Some people are using harsh chemicals on the bare stainless which strips off the protective passivation layer that forms on stainless. After the passivation layer is stripped, you get spotting, streaking fingerprints, etc. The passivation layer seals in the surface of the metal so even fingerprinting is minimized. My Cybertruck lives outside 24/7, under the trees and in the sun and rain and it's the easiest care truck I've ever owned. It's harder than you think to damage it. You would really need to work at it.

I'd agree with you except for the obvious danger it presents to everyone around it.
I see a number of people have bought into the fake narrative that a Cybertruck is more dangerous to pedestrians that traditional trucks like the Dodge Ram. Looking at accident statistics and pedestrian injuries/fatalities, the characteristic of a vehicle that has the highest correlation to pedestrian injuries is hood height. The higher the hood height, the more dangerous the vehicle is to pedestrians. And the Cybertruck has a very low hood height for a full-sized pickup truck.

Cybertruck actually poses less risk of serious injury/death to pedestrians than trucks like the Dodge Ram. However, the anti-Tesla rhetoric doesn't care for facts, it's all about trying to make Tesla look bad. And it runs thick on the Rivian forums.

I think the radical futuristic looks of the Cybertruck are unfortunate in that, love it or hate it, it seems to be what everyone focuses on, to the detriment of the underlying engineering, functionality, incorporated technologies and driving abilities.

Beauty is only skin deep, I love the Cybertruck for the way it is pushing automotive technology forward, the way it makes me feel all smiley inside when I drive it and use it for truck things. Every task just seems easier, more convenient and more pleasurable due to the well-thought-out way everything functions, feels and sounds, right down to how the chassis handles bumps and corners.

That is - or should be - the goal of every UI. Every menu selection option needs to be intuitive to the user. Hiding essential features in sub sub sub menus is a pain for users. Best explanation of a good UI is one that does not require an instruction manual.

I might be wrong but I believe the hood height of some US trucks is why they are banned in Europe.

My daughter and I were at the mall this weekend and saw a Cybertruck in the Tesla store so she wanted to pop in and check it out. Both she and my son think it's awesome and cooler than our R1T. I think it's ridiculous. But I was more impressed with it up close than I am when I see it in pictures or on the road. The interior is big and comfortable, if a bit spartan. Anyway, I'm tired of car companies all putting out boring egg-shaped crossovers in various shades of gray with black interiors. I love when funky cars or funky colors exist! Compass yellow is (was) great! My forest edge interior is great! Rivian's new plaid interior is very fun! I loved when cars came with maroon or navy interiors. I love that cars like the original Kia Soul and Nissan Cube and Juke existed. I just like to see car companies put out something with a specific design that may not be everyone's cup of tea, but is not watered down for mass market consumption. If you hate the Cybertruck, don't buy one. But it's great that it exists for people who are into it and so that the rest of us get to see more variety on the road.

At which price point do they sell 150,000+ per year? $65K? $58K? $52K?
