I priced out a similarly optioned gen 2 R1S Tri Motor. It came out to more than 40% more than my gen 1 R1S Quad Motor. Yeah the reviews are great and it has better suspension, is a faster vehicle, has better range, and feels like a completely new vehicle. But not sure I can justify the additional cost. What about everyone else?

I don’t plan to upgrade anytime soon, just because of gen2, but I’ll eventually replace my R1T with a newer R1T or R1S.

Right now the price is hard to swallow, especially with some of the build quality issues I have now that I’m two years in. On the other hand, there’s nothing in the pipeline and within my price range that I’m interested in so in a couple of years I’ll likely stick with an R1 vehicle.

Not likely....I would actually search out a nice lower mile R1T G1 QM w/Meridian first for about half the price of a G2 TW with a lesser audio system.

Nope, only an upgrade if one doesn't already own an R1.

Keeping my 23R1T DM for at least 3-4 more years. Have a reservation for an R2 will probably go with a Trimotor tricked-out version and continue holding on to the Gen 1 T.

I reserved a gen 2 R1S Quad Max the day reservations opened, but I'm not sure yet if I'm actually gonna upgrade from my pre-price hike gen 1 R1S Quad Large.

I love the the new storm blue paint and the slate sky/walnut interior. I like the idea of a heat pump, Apple Car Key and vastly improved camera quality. And it would be great to get from my place in downtown Salt Lake City to Moab without a charging stop.

But I'm waiting until pricing and range are announced before I decide if the upgrade is worth it to me.

Absolutely not. The Gen1 is overbuilt mechanically which matters the most to me. Sure it doesn't have the new cameras/sensors...

Holding the Gen1 for 8-10 years.

I drove a standard dual gen 2 and purchased another gen 1. I think for the money the gen 1 is a better buy at the moment, not to mention its much more ironed out than how the gen 2 appears to be so far.

2024 R1S DM large pack performance with original preorder price. It’s a great vehicle as built and will keep getting better with software updates.

It’s a $20k increase in price to get Gen 2 with same/similar options. Will take a bigger change in technology/capabilities for me to trade out.

R1 was a fluke for us, combo of pre-hike pricing, tax incentives, and lack of alternatives. Hope to keep it for 10+ years then probably look at something like the R2.
