…from a runaway cart!!

The dent itself isn’t too bad but miffed at cart management and people attitudes to carts in general.

I had just rolled into my bay, was finishing a phone call so hadn’t “parked” yet. Heard a bump from behind and took me a second or two to think to hit the incident /drive cam button. I wonder if this would’ve been auto recorded if I didn’t react or if having parked would’ve made a difference. Any experience there?

I may end up driving around a parking lot 3 or 4 times looking for the perfect spot. Rolling ghost carts are in the decision factor. Drives my wife nuts. I try to never park around the general populous. Cars parked far away with sunshades in the windshield are usually safe if you need to park next to someone for quick in and outs.

Sorry for your luck.

My pet peeve is the wife parking the R1S (and previously her Range Rover) right next to a junker or some vehicle that likely has kids that will be climbing in and out while the wife is shopping somewhere. Particularly egregious when it's not a full lot and there's wide open parking 5 spaces further away.

Likewise, she'll happily park in front of a foot path for one of our kids sporting activities knowing that 100's of parents and kids with chairs and gear will be squeezing by.

She also has a habit of curbing a wheel HARD once a year despite having a pretty regular routine.

All of that behavior has led to scratches and dings (which she gets upset over) but she still does it. Insanity.

This happened to me with a brand new GTI years ago in the first day or two of ownership at Lowe’s. So upsetting. All because of careless little shits who are so lazy they can’t go put the cart back. There are two types of people in this world: those who return carts and those who leave them wherever. Never date the latter . ?
I always park far away now. Get the exercise in.

Some people are real pieces of work, you better sue the guy.

1. File a police report
2. Use one of those plate lookup systems to get the a**holes number and address
3. Tell him you want his insurance information and the local authorities have been notified of the hit& run
4. Post his plate number on the local busy body's board, let them ruin his life

You will not see loose carts in an Aldi lot. It's a European thing. You put money in to get your cart and then get it back when you return it. it's $0.25 and people will actually put the cart back. In most American shopping lots the carts are free and no incentive to return the cart. Yes, it's the right thing to do but a lot of people don't do the right thing.

Also, love the parking spots at Costco. They are a bit wider to make it easier for people to get in and out of their cars. Most parking spots are very narrow and hard for a lot of people to get in and out of cars without bumping into the next car. These narrow spots exist while hundreds of empty spots remain so there is definitely room to widen the spots.

End of rant.

I’m sorry that happened. I want to be the kind of person who says, “oh that’s a bummer. But that R1 still looks amazing” and then goes on with my life. Too often, I stew in negativity.

Here’s the really positive spin: now that your “old” R1S is “all beat up” you really should go order a new Tri-motor.

Oh yeah, it used be so in a BJ’s Wholesale club near in Edison. It’s a great idea tbh
