Rivian needs to get their customer service knowledge base figured out. I was told they could mail me a fully activated keycard for $70 (though by service, not CS).Last week I reached out to Rivian CS to ask about cost and process of acquiring additional keycards. This is what they said:
I thought I had read the same. Basically the particular CS agent I reached did not know specifics and was just. passing the buck. I think I will sacrifice one of my two existing cards to have a CNICK made, then acquire another card with a list of initial quality issues I've been meaning to submit since delivery last summer.Rivian needs to get their customer service knowledge base figured out. 54% of reviews on Amazon are 5-star reviews. Look at reviews for other products, including popular ones (like Dyson vacs and fans), you'd see the same trend. Plus, this is a made-to-order product that involves manual work, of transplanting customer supplied NFC keycards and chips/antennas. Mishaps can happen during the transplant process, and health of the chips themselves can vary. There is probably a bit of user-error involved too, associated with the bad reviews. "They gave a bad RFID sensor"... This one makes absolutely no sense. The sensor is on their car. Not the ring. And in ideal conditions NFC tags can last 10 years. This is awesome and I want one.
But I’m a little concerned with the Seller’s reviews…

Did you have the launch edition model? If not, I would love to know how you got a wristband.Go to a service center and you'll have it within 30 minutes. I got another one and a wristband when I picked up my car on a whim and waited maybe 15 minutes for them to get activated.
When I picked up my R1T at the SC in Atlanta, I asked them for one. My "advisor" told me they had 1000's of them along with Cross Bars (out of stock in the shop) and told me to give him 15-30 to get it ready for me at the end of delivery.Did you have the launch edition model? Did you actually pair the donor keycard to your account first? Does it show in the app?I received my ring today for my Rivian R1T but it doesn't appear to be working. I've tested with the actual key card and confirmed that works, however the chip in the ring is not working to unlock the truck. I've followed the instructions and am doing the same motions as the videos here with no luck. I'll update here if CNICK is able to help resolve the issue, otherwise I'm out 118 bucks for a ring and the cost of a new keycardbe cautious before ordering...
Yes this was one of my paired spare cards that I sent to them and was used successfully beforehandDid you actually pair the donor keycard to your account first? Does it show in the app?
That's a bummer. The chip must've gotten damaged in the extraction process or got zapped in transit (mail screening x-ray?). Turns out CNICK is in the nation of Georgia. The US address they have you send your keycard to was just a middleman service. $118? The site they set up for Rivians show $139.I received my ring today for my Rivian R1T but it doesn't appear to be working. Ah yep it was $139, I was writing this outside while furiously trying to get the truck to unlock with it!That's a bummer. Sorry to hear this. Hopefully they come up with a solution for you. I wasn’t a paying customer (they sent me mine for free to test) but mine does still work great a few months later. Sounds like a fluke in their manufacturing process. This could be a problem for them if it becomes common. It sucks Rivian doesn’t let us activate new keycards like Tesla.I received my ring today for my Rivian R1T but it doesn't appear to be working.
