Windshield Repair Quote- OKC

Hi All
We received our R1S two months ago and got our first windshield crack a couple of weekends ago.
The OKC service center does not do windshield replacements but we do have a local authorized repair shop, GW & Son. They quoted us $2,700 (thank God for insurance!). They also said the job will take roughly 2 days and another day for the polyurethane to cure. Both the time and the charge seem high but they are the only game in town.
Can I get some feedback on whether this is reasonable?

yup, Rivian Authorized Repair Centers cost a bomb. At least in my invoice, they actually show what the markup is and what the actual service fees are.

$1800 cost + $1000 markup - insurance paid for it all, thankfully.

Good to know, I'm in Oklahoma and recently caught a rock. Planned on having it replaced at next service visit. Did the body shop do the calibration as well or did it go back to service center?

GW and Son will handle it all once we figure out when I can work from home for a couple of days

I'm in OK, had mine replaced at the Olathe service center for ~$1800 a while back before the OKC service center was open. Odd that the OKC service center doesn't do them.

Have taken three rocks into the windscreen and each time had Safelite repair for $180 per visit to my house. Not sure of how damaged your windscreen is but would always check with Safelite first.

I just had mine replaced last week thru Rivian and it was $1,877. I have glass protection on my insurance so I was good I just need to pay up front and then get reimbursed.
Insurance company first sent safelite out to replace it but they were going to use a non own windshield and said they weren’t able to calibrate it after install and mentioned Rivian may not calibrate it because it’s non oem so I just had Rivian do it.
That sucks that your Rivian service center isn’t capable of doing it. Maybe there’s another Rivian service center not to far from you that can do it?

That is great to know. It may be worth a drive to KS. How long did the repair take? GW in OKC needs 2 days for the repair plus one day for curing….

It took them 2-3 days as well. This was back in April 2023.

One of many reasons, perhaps.
I spend $500 a year on glass coverage for my two Teslas and my R1S. It covers winshield, panoramic roof, windows, headlights. Every piece of glass and with no deductible.
Some of the best money I ever spent.

It came to $1,500 to replace cracked windshield on my Model Y plus reinstalling window film. Did not cost me a penny. My insurance rates have not gone up, either, roughly $500 for each of my EVs every 6 months, and my cars are overinsured.

Ditto this... just had mine done by Rivian. Also had Insurance coverage but had to pay the $1,800 and file to get reimbursed.

Thx for all the feedback! I was finally able to TALK to a Rivian employee. We miss communicated through the app. OKC SC can n will do the windshield replacement but they don’t deal with insurance companies. I’ll have to get reimbursed.
