I’m surprised Rivian wants to charge me to repair/ replace the rubber gaskets that are coming off at the top of the liftgate.

If that is just the estimate, then they won't charge you if it's covered by warranty.
Yeah. They’ll charge you if they conclude that it was a result abuse, misuse, etc. Most likely it’ll be covered. Standard procedure

mine were peeling off at delivery. they just applied some more glue and it's been holding fine for 3+ years now.

Can you let us know if you have had the service done already, or if this is just an estimate? If it's the latter, reach out via the messaging feature in the app and have them confirm if it will be at your cost or not.

It's common to see some items that will be covered by warranty not look that way on the estimates. They have to see if it is in fact something that happened due to wear and tear or something wrong with the part or the vehicle itself - they aren't going to cover that gasket if someone slashed at it with a knife or something sharp (in other words, not the fault of the vehicle or the part itself).

If you already had the service done, this should have been in the estimate, which you approved before the work was done.

Some of my work estimates have a cost on them, some don't. I've never had to pay for a warranty repair, they just like to inform you of the potential cost before hand so they can order the parts and keep the work going without having to reach back out and wait for a response if they determine it shouldn't be covered due to an abuse or damage outside of their control.

I have a R1T and I had a loaner r1s and noticed the rear hatch seal falling off. Just applied some weatherstripping adhesive that I already had and it was and easy fix.

This is a CYA procedure, other wise known as under promise and over deliver. You'd be a lot more angry if you got a zero dollar estimate and went to pick your Rivian up and got a bill for $200, no doubt we all would be pissed I think. In my experience dealing with a customer, I'd get a lot more smiles when I could give them good news vs a $200 unexpected bill. If you are unsure that the repair will be covered, it is best to ask when you get to the SC for an evaluation before work begins to make sure you and the service manager are on the same page.

Thank you for all the feedback. Very useful. Now I understand that I just need to have a conversation with the technician when they arrive and confirm that they are going to cover under warranty. I just got off the phone with Rivian Service and this is what they told me.

By the way, the initial and primary reason for this mobile service visit is actually replacement of the 12 V battery. They reached out to me proactively letting me know that I needed to have it done.

Make sure you check your door gaskets too. Out of warranty replacement for all 4 doors is $1500. Ask me how I know. There's no notches to align it in, it's just held on my adhesive tape. 1 month after my paid replacement, it was already peeling away because they didn't remove the old adhesive and it had to go back in for them to do it right.
