Makes me like the Nissan Rogue I have while mine is being serviced. It might not make the speed limit by time to merge on highway on ramps....but given enough distance and with the wind....will clear 80....at least by a little....
The Nissan Rogue is governed to 116 mph. Don't ask me how I know.....lol

Rental cars are fun.

Dang! That must take about 2 miles to achieve....with the wind!
Well, it wasn't from a standing start. It was a rental car that I had in Germany. I was on one of the Autobahns where the speed was unrestricted and I couldn't get the thing to go over 116 mph, but there's no doubt in my mind that it would have if it didn't have a governor on it. 116 mph is 186 kph and most rental cars in Germany are limited to 210 kph (which is about 130 mph). Needless to say, I was getting passed constantly by faster moving traffic in that little Rogue.

Last year, I rental an Audi in Germany and that was a lot more fun. It had a sticker on the dash that said to not exceed 210, but the car had tires rated for 240 and it would easily go faster than 210. I pushed it to nearly 240 at times, but didn't try to go any faster. For what it's worth, I was still getting passed by faster traffic, even when I was near 240. I really wish we had high speed highways like they have in Germany, but the drivers here don't have the discipline to make it work safely as it does in Germany.

Got a loaner R1S quad gen 1 from the service center today as a loaner while mine is being worked on. On the drive home I couldn’t go over 80 and noticed this message on the display. Everything else seems normal. Tried an hard reset, it’s still there. Anybody seen this before? Is it possibly a sort of limp mode for loaners?

Have to ask-are you somewhere where the speed limit is above 80? Not calling you out. I have legally driven well over that speed in my own car but will treat a loaner or rental with respect. It's not mine.
Yes - highway speed limit where we live in Idaho is 80, so traffic is usually flowing at 85-90.

I'm in Utah - same situation here.It was a painful discovery that EVs are range rated for 65mph highways, and 80mph highways RUIN you

I had a loaner for 2 weeks also had this limit.

I think it's because it was also their demo vehicle.

Pretty annoying a few times I had to back out of a pass

Rivian explained to me that demo vehicles are limited in this manner. Vehicles that are just for service are not limited. However, some demo vehicles are also used as service loaner vehicles.
This explains why some loaners are limited and some are not.

Rentals and loaners don’t have speed limits, jump height limits, or any such limitations. There’s no such thing as respect to an inanimate object, especially a rental.
My perspective is a bit different. I see it as borrowing something of value that belongs to someone else. Sort of like borrowing your neighbours tools. You do you mate.

True, but you seem to be inferring that exceeding 80 mph is somehow abusive to the vehicle. Is it though?

All Loaners are locked to 80 and under. Driving in CA you will get lapped easily but it is what it is.
