I do remember seeing these beautiful aluminum knurled thumb wheels on the steering wheel. Then in person they were just plastic kind of seems like a space I would have paid the little bit extra for the nicer material because that's what you see and touch the most.

Someone else mentioned from the press event in Breckinridge that those thumb wheels felt somewhat cheap. That's unfortunate they didn't go with some metal/alloy or something nice but maybe there's some reason other than cost.

One of the things I realized now that were seeing a lot pf photos and videos of the vehicles is that each R1 will be unique because of the wood trim. Rivian has left the natural grain in the wood which means each interior will have its own unique grain pattern. How cool is that?

Cost may be part of it, but metal is also problematic because of how hot it can be in the sun. It may also be unpleasant if it's really cold.

Plastics can be high quality, and the right "rubberized" texture could feel nice to touch, as well. I'll reserve final judgement until I can actually use the controls, myself. I'd be more concerned about the perceived "weight" of the wheels/buttons and how well they actually move. I want a distinct and crisp "click" that you get from a quality switch/encoder, rather than a mushy/vague movement or something too stiff from a cheaper part.

The Black Mountain interior definitely seems more dark grey than black. Anyone who has seen the inside of that interior color can give some insight?
It looked like a dark blue to me to be honest when I saw it. Blue is my favorite color so it just makes me happier it looks like that.

I’m glad they’re not metal, I’d like to keep my thumbprints on a hot day thanks. My car has metal accents on the window switches and the like. They’re worse than seatbelt buckles when they get hot.

like you said, as long as the haptics are good, that’s what matters

Silver or Rivian Blue... I really can't decide.
The review videos made me love blue again...
I had white LE-R1S after seeing reviews wife asked me to change it to Blue. Blue looks awesome and unique. I really don't like to pay extra for paint option, and also upcoming EV tax credit final bill will play big role in what color I chose.

What color is this???

I can't seem to tell if it's Blue, or FG, just with some crazy lighting? Or bad camera filter?

For me, Rivian Blue was my first love. I then decided to love Launch Green, and the exclusive launch color. Now, I'm starting to flirt with Canyon Red.

The red in one of the recent reviews looked so good!

It was my first choice, since I love red vehicles. It has to be the right kind of red though, so I switch to Launch Green and save the $$$.
The recent pictures have me reconsidering.

Looks like some trailer testing. Charging looks inconvenient.

Too lazy to disconnect ?. It'll def be inconvenient since i doubt EA focused on towing. Hopefully RAN fixes that. Does Tesla have charging sports for vehicles towing? If so that may be a quicker solution if/when they open their network.
