I hear ya with the Littles. My A2Z adapter is on its way, I've only had my Riv 3 weeks and I'm almost terrified to venture more than 2 hrs from the house without access to Tesla chargers, hah.
What is ABRP? I've used plugshare and I like that too.

At the Chevy/Buick Dealer? The charger was an "InCharge" I believe. It didnt have a way I saw to activate an account, etc although that could have been user error. Just trying to tap to pay got an error on the screen that said "not authorized" and like I said I gave up after the listing on their actual website said unavailable to public. If its worked for others... just add another mistake to my comedy of a day.

Thats the one, I think I used the card reader too. I pulled up to the big one on the left (50Kw). the store manager actually came out to chat. This was Christmas time 2023 I think.

Well that sucks. Obviously wish I had figured it out and gotten it to work. Obviously on a Sunday no one was working at the dealer so I was on my own from that standpoint.

A Better Route Planner. It's specifically for EV's. Get it and use it to verify range and charge locations along with plugshare. I've found it to be fairly reliable

Thanks for sharing this experience. I could see myself making the same decisions under the same circumstances. As a new EV owner I will learn from this.

On an extended trip, my SOP is to always take an opportunity to charge, even L1. Could you have asked your brother for an extension cord to run under the garage door?

In the dead of winter, L1 might end up being counter-productive, but I will learn that empirically before deciding not to do it at that particular point in time.

Now that I have my Tesla adapter, this is potentially less of an imperative, but I think this practice will die hard for me.

I am sorry for your experience....look.....don't feel stupid...we all make mistakes. I sometimes get range cockiness...speed cockiness...and well....just totally cocky ...?

If you don't want to wait for the adapter...you can pickup an A2Z Typhoon Pro. My discount code will save you 10% and its a great product. To me, it actually feels better than the official Rivian/Tesla adapter.

Lastly, while you may not be too happy about this now...in the future you can look back on it hopefully and have something to talk about ?

Always use something like plugshare or a better route finder if you are doing a road trip. Also if you don't want to wait, get the A2Z adapter. Even when you eventually get the Tesla adapter from Rivian, always good to have a backup.

I use to have great experience with EA but have learned lately to never count on them to be working. Always have a backup plan. I don't think EA even cares any longer how long their chargers are down.

Since ABRP came up, does anyone use an adapter like OBDLink CX Bimmercode Bluetooth 5.1 OBD2 for live data? Is it helpful?
