Wow I was all set to get a set of these since the hum on my Pirellis is starting to drive me crazy... now I'll be waiting to hear the resolution.

Separate question to the forum: I can't figure out what tire comes on a Gen 2 20" AT package - on the Canadian website at least, it still shows the Pirellis... I thought it was supposed to be this Goodyear tire. Sub-question: what size is it? the 65 or 60 series?

AT package still has Pirelli ATs in 275/65R20. You have to get the Standard battery with 20" All Season tires to get the Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT in 275/60R20.

I think both Rivian and Goodyear are doing a disservice calling it an All Season or All Terrain tire, respectively. It's an All Weather tire as it carries the 3PMSF rating and has the AT aggressive looks, but also the NVH of an All Season. Oh and further efficiency than ATs, but not quite AS level. I'm really thinking about getting rid of my AT3Ws because of the NVH and efficiency, but alas, I'm an adherent of the sunken cost fallacy...

saw these at the Firebaugh RAN station yesterday. They look really good, as do the wheels! If these were available in 2022 when I got my truck I would have gotten them. That said still think my black 20’s and Recon Grapplers look way cooler ?

I am in the same boat as well. Would like to know more about this noise since this will probably be my next set of tires.

The road noise is a low hum. If you've ever had a truck with all terrain tires, you'll know what I mean. The more aggressive the tread pattern and sidewall, the louder the hum.

I've had the Wranglers for 250 miles now and the hum is not loud, but it is there. The fact that they're pretty dead quiet under 50mph probably makes it even more noticeable once you go over 50mph. If you have music playing at a decent volume, you may not notice it.

I guess this should be expected because the tires are listed as All Terrain. However, the Pirellis are an All Terrain tire as well and there was no noticeable hum when they were brand new.

New set of Pirellis are $1,848 and new Wranglers are $1,044 on TireRack. IMO, the only advantage the Wranglers have so far is the price. Everything else including efficiency seems to be comparable. I haven't take the Wranglers in the snow yet. My expectation is that they will perform similar and the tread life will also be comparable to the 25k I got out of the Pirellis.

So the question for me as well as possibly others, is the cheaper tire worth it? If both tires last only 25k miles which based on my driving equals 24 months, that would be $33.50 more per month for the Pirellis. IMO, if you're paying $80k for a vehicle, $33.50 extra per month is probably worth it to not hear a hum.

I'm still waiting to hear back from @B Digs if Goodyear has any response on my feedback.

Hey everybody, new guy here. Gonna be taking delivery of a 24 R1T in 10 days and can’t wait!

That being said, I currently have a 21 F150 powerboost hybrid which comes from the factory with these Goodyear Wrangler ATs. I know it’s not apples to apples in terms of size, load, etc, but I’d say this tire leans maybe 75% towards a comfortable and efficient road tire and 25% into all terrain capabilities. I don’t have any experience yet with the factory Pirellis but I’m almost positive that the Wranglers will not be anywhere near as capable off road as the Pirellis. And that’s OK since majority of driving is done on paved surfaces. The Wranglers are, in my experience on the F150, extremely comfortable, quiet, and efficient tires while looking like an AT tire and that also gives the truck a good stance. I’ve taken the truck on some rocky forest roads and it handled just fine for a truck with leaf springs but I wouldn‘t go rock crawling in them, by any means.

Just my personal experience though…maybe these tires have been developed differently for the Rivian.

Do you/did you really not get the ridiculous roar from your Pirelli ATs after 12-15k miles? I have 18k miles on my Pirelli ATs and they are almost unbearable between 40-60 MPH. From browsing around here it seems like my experience is not at all unusual.

Give that, I would say your math is off and you should really only expect 12 months of comparable or lower noise from the Pirellis. So would you pay $67/month for a quieter ride, followed by 12 months of ear splitting racket until the tires finally wear out?

I got rid of the Pirellis at 23.5k miles. To be honest, it probably started around 15k but started to get really annoying around 20k. I was really pushing my sanity at 23.5k.

If the Wranglers have this annoying hum now, then yes, in 12 months I would surmise that they would be even noisier than the Pirellis.

Any way you slice it, the AT tire options on the Rivian are not great. I think the weight of the truck makes this a difficult task for tire manufacturers

Efficiency will improve after 1k miles, you need to let them break in before getting real data. Generally we've seen worse efficiency the first 1k and it improves/plateaus at that point. Also ensure you rest under like conditions (exterior temps, battery temps, PSI, etc).

Not really - they have more noise than 21" (obviously), but most of it (you can call it hum) I can hear only below 45-50 mph. Hi-speed - I do not have any real difference in noise between them and 21". Super happy with them (after 5k miles, average 2.3 miles per kWh). Also as a wear - now 10/32 after 5k.

I havent noticed a humming noise (but I'll turn off my music and listen), but I have seen my efficiency numbers improve. I'm up to 1.78M/KwH

Hi @babs89, welcome to the party! Goodyear’s Wrangler Territory line is designed to optimize tires for specific vehicle manufacturers. The Rivian version shares some DNA with the Ford tire, but each tire is a unique collaboration between Goodyear and the vehicle manufacturer to ensure top performance for that specific vehicle.
