My external drive stopped working after the last s/w update. Tech says it's the drive and I should get a new one. There seems to be very specific requirements for that. What has worked best for you. Thanks for your recommendations in advance.

Amazon.com: Samsung Type-C™ USB Flash Drive, 256GB, Transfers 4GB Files in 11 Secs w/Up to 400MB/s 3.13 Read Speeds, Compatible w/USB 3.0/2.0, Waterproof, 2022, Blue, MUF-256DA/AM : Electronics

Works flawlessly and is very small. Also resistant to environmental conditions these drives will face.

I had the same issue. I then followed someone's recommendations on this board to edit the log file generated on the drive from "too slow" to "READY" and all was back to normal. Two minute fix.

A semi reliable source believes the updated drive speed requirements have to do with the new Launch Mode, since it automatically downloads video to the drive every time you launch with it. The vehicle also logs how many times and all the telemetry every time you use it. If this is correct, you heard it here first.

I have this drive..

The only thing that has happened that was a problem is after the last update, I had to format the drive, and reinitialize it for the Rivian (just did this Monday). Prior to that I had to unplug it, and plug it back in once. No other issues. 9 months so far, installed it at the delivery SC before I even drove it home

I've been using THIS for the last 4 months but I had issues because of the updates as well. Resetting the infotainment system works for me so I guess it's not the drive.

This is what I have been using for the last couple of months. Seems to work just fine. I have had no issues other than the Gen 1 Rivian cameras are pretty lousy. The right angle adaptor is nice, as it keeps the flash drive tucked in, out of the way. These will write over older clips as it fills up, which can be pretty fast with 5 cameras being recorded. If you are planning on longer driving intervals between viewing important footage, a larger drive may be necessary. Some have said that these flash drives will wear out with repeated usage. Don’t know if that is true. So far, so good For me.

Update on this setup.

I thought this would overwrite videos, but I don’t think that happens. Mine just filled up and I had to empty it. When I tried to reinstall the drive, it formatted okay, but then told me the drive was too slow and it wouldn’t work. I guess I will have to move on to Plan B, whatever that is. Most likely I will just get a regular SD card.

Hmm..Unfortunately, mine stopped working too after the update. Shows up normal, but nothing gets recorded, even when gear guard notification has been activated.

Well that's not good. What happens if you connect it to a PC? Do you see the streams? If not, you might try formatting it exFAT on a windows device and then running the setup process again.
