Looking for Adapter for Tesla Charger - Will Buy, Rent or Borrow - Austin, TX

I haven't received my adapter yet and am leaving this Thursday - Monday for a road trip. I live in Austin, TX. Rivian says if I use a third-party adapter they will void my warranty.

Rivan says in their warranty documentation if the adapter causes the damage it's not covered. No warranty is voided.

In addition, damage or the manfunction of the vehicle or any of its component parts is not covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty when caused by the following:

- Using or attempting to use, third-party CCS or NACS charging adapters not approved by Rivian

I used an adapter all this past week on a roadtrip with no issues as do others regularly. I'm fine with the risk as it's a reputable manufacturer.

RJ's latest interview in NY, he stated many use third party adapters when asked about the slow rollout of Tesla adapters, they definitely know it's happening.

Does anyone have a specific recommendation for a third-party adapter compatible with the Tesla supercharger (and Rivian). Thank you!

Just get A2Z Typhoon (discontinued) or Typhoon Pro (ease of use improvements and currently shipping). The warranty warning is a broad standard “cover your ass” policy that is dictated by Tesla, because Tesla Superchargers is their network. And, the approved adapter is also manufactured by Tesla. GM just recently got access to Superchargers and they are selling the Tesla adapter along side the Lectron adapter. That should give you a clue on how overly broad that policy is on third party adapters. That said, there are many downsides to the Lectron adapter, which is a well covered topic (search to learn more).

Both A2Z adapters feel more substantial than the Tesla adapter.

I used the original A2Z several times on my last trip prior to getting my Rivian one. It worked great and my understanding is their newer one is better so I would recommend A2Z.

If your adapter doesn't arrive, you can borrow my A2Z adapters as I'm presently rivianless. I have both the Typhoon and Stellar, and both have worked fine. I'm in Spicewood NW of Austin.

Amazon? The A2Z Typhoon Pro is not on Amazon. Double check your order ASAP. What is on Amazon is a look-alike to the discontinued Typhoon bearing name of another brand (that no one talks about). I would not trust it.

If they can't get the compass yellow color right in the logo I'm not sure I'd trust the adapter either.

The potential for disaster, with random adapters, is exactly why official policy forbids use of third party adapters. People here steered you specifically towards A2Z’s for good reason.
