Took delivery of our Canyon Red R1S last weekend - trading in a 2016 ModelX (and I also currently own ModelY)
General thoughts - Rivian Build quality seems good, driving experience is enjoyable (but obviously different from the ModeX).
Software, though, is definitely a bit of a mixed bag. It feels VERY unfinished/buggy/underdesigned relative to the Tesla's. (In terms of the in-vehicle software and also the iOS app). Today I was particularly missing the way Tesla will show (and continue updating) the location of the vehicle in the app when my wife is coming home, etc.
But there's a few things I'm seeing that I wonder if are bugs and/or if anyones has experienced. For what it's worth I've done both a soft (two steering-wheel buttons) and hard (button+Hazard) reset and still seeing these issues.
-Most disappointing was the fact that I plugged the R1S into a wall outlet last night and when I came back in the morning I actually had about 15 FEWER miles on the car than when I plugged it in last night. WTF? The R1S was apparently 'running' as well - something was going on with HVAC maybe? The garage was noticeably warmer too... so the car was giving off heat all night.
-Probably related - if I exit the car with the music playing, it will CONTINUE TO PLAY even after I lock the car. This isn't by design is it? It just feels like the car's not able to go to sleep the way my Teslas do.
-Navigation system is mostly blank. I see the traffic overlays, but the actual roads are invisible. I've seen others mention this but haven't seen a fix. Is everybody just living with this for now?
I'm not to the point where I'm actually _regretting_ the purchase, but I'm also a bit shocked at how janky some of this stuff feels. Was hoping that, by waiting for the 2nd generation, I'd be getting a reasonably polished experience.
