A forum like this is a place to vent your issues and problems. If the moderators were to screen out negative threads and posts, they might as well shut it down because it would be absolutely useless.

I have been a member of the Airstream Forums (airforums.com) for almost twenty years. Over its existence (since 2002), it has had almost 200,000 members. The posting on AirForums is very much like it is here on RivianForums. Problems are aired and discussed, and resolutions are proposed and evaluated. Airstream news and the introduction of new models are discussed. There is the occasional troll or spammer, but that is just a fact of life. The moderators on AirForums control the trolls (some are actually suspended for misbehavior) and ban the spammers. Airstream is regularly held accountable for some of their more questionable decisions and features or lack thereof.

The Airstream Company closely monitors AirForums to see what their customers are saying. The Company maintains its own membership on AirForums and occasionally comments in a thread. Rivian could benefit from watching RivianForums to get a real feel for what is going on in their customer community.

Same for the Bronco forum. Ford is definitely on there, active, and monitoring. Not sure how much bang for our buck we customers get, but Ford is aware.

The forum is great for getting answers to questions and adding knowledge. I still believe the majority of folks who join are here for that.

There is a pattern with many of the worst complainers: just joined to whine about something, have never participated in the forum at all before that and generally do not stay to do so after that 1 thread they start attempting to get sympathy or attention from Rivian.

There is another type of drive by complainer who only show up around quarterly earnings report time to complain about the company and their products and same as above, make 1 thread they hope will make it on one of those crappy stock reporting or auto blogs to help drive the price down further because they probably shorted it. Most of them don't appear to even own a Rivian.

I should also say that it's ok to complain about Rivian. They certainly aren't perfect and have plenty of room for improvement. I only take issue with those who come here with another agenda. I feel like the overwhelming majority of members here want to see Rivian improve and succeed. That can't be said for those other examples I gave.

I disagree. If folks continue to have bad experiences, I would like Rivian to address the issues so that customers stay and flock to the brand! Not move on…
It's okay to disagree, but read (and understand) my complete response rather than selectively quoting parts of it. My sentiment, again, is "if you continue to have a less than satisfactory experience." That is my perspective.

Still disagree. Continuing to have an unsatisfactory experience is something Rivian should remedy if it has to do with the product. The company needs customers to stay.

I’ve owned my Launch Edition since early 2022 and am new to this forum and surprised at all of the negative comments about Rivians on here. It seems posters would be better served calling Rivian service instead of whining on here about their technical issues.
It's partially a matter of the glass being half empty or half full. My Rivian glass remains completely full up to this point. But actually it's probably just the typical internet forum troll brigade in action. My commitment to Rivians missi

I love my Rivian, I equally have issues, and use the forum to both praise and ask for feedback.

If you got a perfect R1, good for you, I didn't.

Glad we all have our opinions. I am spelling it out more explicitly for you :). Here is an excerpt from my response: " I can understand people’s frustrations related to their experience with the vehicle and the company. Most are valid complaints, and I think there is learning and growth for Rivian to take away from some of the feedback as they continue to mature as a company. I have seen Rivian respond and improve over time." I have spent way too much unproductive time on this topic and will not add to it beyond this. I'm sure you'll have some profound response, so please enjoy writing back!

@Christopher1000 Thanks for the post! I know you would agree that most of the posts on here have been inspirational. I look forward to reading and learning from contributions and adventures like yours.

Every forum has their share of bashers and too many use the internet to air only grievances.

Agree with many posters above. I have found a lot of good information on this site over the year(s). I appreciate posts raising issues and asking questions that many others can benefit from - As well as informative posts on topics I know little about (I've read way too much about tires and wheels). In particular, when I was getting ready to pull the trigger I relied on this site a good amount. On the flip side, I think there has also been an increase recently in over-the-top complaints/declarations of "Rivian is bad!" or "Rivian should be embarrassed!" hyperbolic type posts (hello internet!). This may just be a result of more Rivians on the road and more posters (including some trolls). I try to ignore them, while still enjoying and benefitting (and hopefully contributing a bit) from the majority of reasonable posts.

If you read that someone has needed service 3 times for 3 different problems in one year, and each time it takes about 2 weeks to fix, do you read that as a negative statement, or a statement of fact?

And because of long service times, people are stuck dealing with their issues for extended times, often for months, not just a few days.

If you are looking for an echo chamber of good news on any forum, good luck.

That’s what I figured. Why don’t the moderators screen them out as it affects future sales and Rivians reputation.
I don’t know if the owners or admins of the forum have a financial stake in Rivian so there probably isn’t as compelling reason as you might think to screen the trolls.

On the other hand, my understanding of the business model of online forums is that sponsorship and ad revenue pay the bills and anything which increases views and interactions improves the bottom line. I think you could make the argument that a post praising Rivian with readers nodding silently then moving on is less valuable than a post bashing Rivian which spurs reactions, replies, and revisits.

So, if you want to weed out the trolls I think you should not engage with them and, better yet, ignore them so you don’t see their content at all. Just make sure that you do engage with the posts which you find useful, even if they are accurate but negative accounts of a Rivian experience. This keeps the forum a healthy business and rewards posters for quality content. Oh, don’t be shy about clicking on ads here either!
