Yeah you're oh so busy and important you cant take 30-40 min out of your day to not be texting other people. Give me a break.
I'd hate to pull over to read/respond to an important work text when it's not necessary to do so. In my line of business, time is important. Staying connected matters. Responding quickly is paramount.

My R1T has been in the service center for two weeks now so I’ve had a Jeep Wagoneer for a rental and it comes with CarPlay. After finally getting to play with and learn CarPlay, I have to say that CarPlay is a huge NO for me. I significantly prefer the maps that Rivian provides and just use Waze on my phone. And Spotify is FAR superior on the Rivian’s system than through CarPlay. I cannot wait to get my R1T back (may even check with Enterprise to see if they have an R1S in stock that I can get). So please, stop requesting that Rivian use or implement CarPlay.
100% agree. For me Rivian + iPhone with Waze is a great combo.
Have a Rivian friend who put in a small screen to support apply play…. And this makes him happy…

so to each their own.
But I’m fine with it not included…

We will never all agree. That being said, Rivian should at least offer Car Play/Auto as options. Especially since without the $150 Connect subscription my map looks like s$%t. And don’t let me get started on subscriptions. Subscriptions are Just a way for a company to drain money from you, and gradually increase the charges for service until Connect will be $500+ per year. Sorry off topic. For those of you who like the Rivian system use it, others could use Play/Auto. Why not give your customers some options? Rivian always seems to force their customers to compromise.

Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone - The Mills Brothers

Please don't talk about me when I'm gone
Oh, honey though our friendship ceases from now on
And listen, if you can't say anything real nice
It's better not to talk at all, is my advice

We're parting, you go your way, I'll go mine
It's best that we do
Here's a kiss
I hope that this brings lots of luck to you

Makes no difference how I carry on
Remember, please don't talk about me when I'm gone

Well I like it, so please keep asking for it.

It's actually not terrible. You may not like it but that is an opinion. And there are plenty who feel the opposite. Car Play does (and would do) a lot of things that the Rivian system doesn't and probably never will. Personally I think the map interface is WAY better.. but again, that its just an opinion. Does Rivian let you say "Drive to [someone in your apple address book]"? No. Does Rivian let you send and receive texts hands free? No. Does Rivian anticipate destinations you go to regularly and give you an ETA? No. Does Rivian let you use other apps, say... for traffic, that are frankly more accurate? No. Does Rivian let you use Siri (in case like many you are already over a decade deep into using that paradigm - and which frankly predated Alexa)? No.

Why NOT give folks access to CarPlay? It offers functionality that is currently not available. If you don't like it.. It is SO AMAZINGLY SIMPLE... don't use it. There are THOUSANDS of folks who DO like it. If Rivian can build a better mouse trap.... FINE! Do It! If it TRULY is better people will stop using Car Play and switch... but in the meantime.. what is so catastrophic about ADDING functionality that SOME folks like and use regularly?

In short... We're gonna keep asking because the excuses for not adding it are: "Play my way because I said so".

Except Rivian has repeatedly said it is never going to happen. So that gives all CarPlay folks a choice: accept Rivian's decision and company direction or buy a different car. There doesn't need to be a better answer than "play My way because I said so" as that is Rivian's company decision.

Can't tell you how many times companies have said "Never" only to rethink things because the demand is persistent. ??‍♂ Just sayin'

Maybe. I don't think it's enough of an impediment for Rivian to reverse course. After all, you have a Rivian knowing they had never planned on CarPlay, right?

I do have a Rivian, and I do love it... but no I did not know at the time they had "never" plan in place.. thought it would be a "coming down the pike" situation. I don't see anything wrong with consumers voicing their desires for MORE functionality.... That IS how things end up happening....

There was a report on CNBC recently that said essentially that people, especially the young buyers, are making purchasing decisions based on if CP/AA is available on the vehicle or not.

At some point, regardless of Rivian's position today, if it impacts sales figure enough, they will sing a different tune.

Its not like Rivian said one thing and did another before...

Unfortunately for the people in this thread, this is typically when things are promised and then taken away. I'm still waiting on my gear tunnel camp kitchen, and R1T with a removable roof.

This shows very clearly that Rivian is lying about CP "taking over" the screen. Nope. Even a cheap Mini can pull off a collaborative screen with CarPlay.
