Rivian vs deer. Repair cost?

Not sure if this is the right area, but I am sure it will get moved if wrong.

i was driving home last night in Middle TN around 5:30 CT. I just crossed I-24 and was near Arnold Air Base. A deer crossed most of the road, but I clipped it with the right front bumper of the truck. No air bag deployment, truck still drivable. Not sure of the repair cost yet, collision center is closed. Including pictures and 2 incident videos from the truck.

Thoughts on repair cost? Maybe not totaled since the air bags didn’t deploy ?.

Oof she took a good hit. I would certainly hope that’s not totaled, as it appears to be mostly cosmetic. Glad it’s still drivable for you!

I’m betting $28,000. I had a small dent on the fender and scratch on the door that ended up taking about 45 days and $11,000 to fix. I just hope you aren’t in Oregon and have to use the same place I did!

Guessing about $2-4k. Plastic panels (fender flare, bumper edge piece, front painted lower bumper piece and the tow hook bezels) are not that expensive... Labor included, I'm guessing right around $2000-$4000.

The problem is that Rivian won’t sell parts to any facility that isn’t Rivian-certified, and there aren’t very many out there. They have to repair the vehicle to 100% new state, so they claim to have to bill insurance for even the smallest, most minute detail. There is literally one facility in all of Oregon and one facility in all of Washington state that is Rivian-certified, so they can essentially charge whatever they want. They can set the market because there is no competition. I’m not sure about any other states, but given we were some of the earliest areas to get substantial number of Rivian deliveries, I’m surprised there aren’t more options by now. It was ludicrous all the unnecessary work that my repair facility claimed they had to do. They also sucked and botched the repair, but that’s what happens when there’s no competition.

Sorry that turned into a bit of a rant. It probably only should be like $4,000, but the rules Rivian imposes to be able to order parts increases repair costs exponentially.

Lucky for me there are 2 certified repair facilities near Nashville, 1 in Chattanooga.

For comparison, this damage here was 5990 USD repair cost. Yours is very similar in that the same parts need to be replaced. The biggest difference I see is the parking sensors. Based on that, I think it’s going to be more in the 8000-11000 range.

I had lower front right side black bumper plastic replaced after hitting or being hit by something rocky. 450$ for bumper + 400 for work time. Nowhere near as high as some expect it to be. That was 3 weeks ago at new rivian center near Rochester ny.
Ps: I placed ultrasound Deer whistles under shiny front bumper and haven’t seen a deer in front since…not sure it works with deaf deer though
