My R1S came with the 21 inch wheels, and I ended up buying the 20 inch R1000 wheels with Nokian Hakas from EVS. I switch them myself. I have a GPS radar which accurately shows the speed. The rivian speedo exactly matches the GPS radar in both tires, telling me no recalibration was needed between the two. I spoke to Rivian and they agreed. So now I switch them out before / after winter, and prolong the life on both sets, but don't need anything calibrated.

Rivian has refused to recalibrate non-oem tires and or non-oem wheels.
There was a period of time folks were able to sneak both under the radar (??‍♂) and techs didn't care. Big Rivian And SC managers caught on and put a stop to it.

According to the AMA with Wassym, we'll have a baked-in tire configurator in the near future! (Q1 2025)

I live in Canada and found the options to be minimal. This is what I finally settled on See attached invoice.

Price just under $4,000 rims, winter tires and wheel sensors. Everything works and I was not concerned if the odometer is a bit off.

Sorry about the quality of the attached file, I just had the tire shop send over what was on file. If you can not get the info you need send me a note and I will dig up the details tonight or tomorrow

After 1 month very happy with the performance and actually has a better ride then my 22" tires that came with the vehicle.

FWIW- From day one, which is like almost 3 years now, Rivian has refused to recalibrate non-oem tires and or non-oem wheels. Unfortunately, some clueless SC's will still schedule the service then bail at the last second, or even worse have owners show up with their vehicles and new tires/wheels then refuse to do the job. This is nothing new for Rivian. It's like asking them to mount an aftermarket bumper on your Rivian, they won't do it period.
Thanks for the insight regarding the SC missteps. Wish I’d known sooner. I have contacted a local shop that has done installs on Rivians so I have solved that problem. However, the refusal to install tires that Rivian itself recommends for their vehicles still doesn’t sit right with me.

I’m no mechanic, but I can’t agree with the comparison between installing winter tires on a vehicle and installing an aftermarket accessory like a bumper. Winter tires aren’t oem and from what I can tell Rivian does not offer a true winter tire; at least not in Canada. Their website has recommended tires, of which the Nokia Hakka is one. Every other car manufacturer/dealer I have ever dealt with has had no issues installing a correctly spec’d, manufacturer approved winter tire on a car. There may be a good reason why Rivian is refusing to do this, but I haven’t heard it.

SC recalibrated for me on third party wheels and tires (perhaps not helpful, but they were happy to do it).
You are the happy exception! ;)

Risk tolerance and assumed liability. That's all you need to think about, as if you are a business owner/operator yourself, to understand that particular SC's position. Period. Run the correct size tire and avoid calibration.

Aside from nuances of lifting and torquing the lug nuts—info is in your Owner Guide and the official Tow Operator Guide (read them)—there is nothing proprietary about swapping and mounting tires and wheels. For that you can go to any tire shop who is willing to receive instruction, on the nuances of lifting, and use your jack pucks (buy a set). Problem solved.

I am trying to get snow tires for my wife's R1S, which currently as the stock 21 inch tires. I am thinking of getting the same rims and tires that you got from EVS. I assume you are happy with them?

I have always been confused by tires and rims. I am hoping some of you helpful people can help me out with a few questions.

I see that EVSportline offers a variety of 20 inch rims. Are the differences mostly cosmetic or are there other things to consider?

Also, when you go to the Nokian website they do not recommend any tires for Rivians, but I see that many people say that the Hakkapelita RV SUV winter tires work just fine. Is there anything I am missing?

Thanks!

This is what you need along with any 20" rims from EVsports.
