1. Infotainment hard crash while driving (screens go black, only speedometer visible for a minute or two)

Saw this happen in mine one time about a month ago. Don't think it was related to any update. Otherwise no issues.

I updated early last week and I have Apple Music playing without any issue. Even changes the account between my wife and myself depending on which person is driving. All good on that front.

Recommend doing a hard restart, not infotainment restart. I ALWAYS do a hard restart after each firmware update on both Rivian and our Tesla. It cures all ills for us.

Usually do the hard restart couple of hours after the install or the next morning.

Hey everyone, I've noticed some increased instability after updating to 2024.43.1 and I just wanted to check if others have experienced an increase in instability as well.

I've got a 2023 Gen1 R1T.

Things I've noticed:

1. Infotainment hard crash while driving (screens go black, only speedometer visible for a minute or two)
2. Apple Music claims it's playing music, but there's no sound coming out of the speakers. Infotainment reset fixes it.
3. Dashboard visualizations lag heavily when the Camera app is open

My software was very slow and laggy before the update. It's gotten better after I updated the software to the latest one now, but the camera activation is still slow... a solid 1-2 second delay from using the blinker to cameras turning on.

I applied the update a few days ago. The lag between screens is no longer a problem. Apple Music has been pretty good for me since day one. Occasionally it’s a little slow starting up when I enter but this could be due to my network connection.

Yesterday it even picked up a playlist I was listening to on my phone from the same song as well. Is this actually a thing or did I imagine this? ?

Don't use Apple Music but other than that the update has been fine no issues to report.

Both my displays went dark 2x this morning within minutes (only speedometer display was on), but self recovered after a few seconds. I had not installed the update yet, but it had already downloaded. When I arrived, I did a soft reset and installed the update. So far no issues. This is the first time the system crashed, so I believe if it was it related to the update, but I can't be sure.

I had this once about 4 updates ago. Same fix - software reset and good to go.

No issues or slowdowns with newest update in my early 2023 R1S build. I also don't use Apple Music which seems to be a common differentiator between some (but not all) said those having problems vs. those of us who are not.

After update, Apple Music no longer worked. Soft reset didn’t fix, hard reset did. Next day, no longer working again. Radio works, Tune in works, Audible doesn’t work. Only 1 profile. This is my first issue with media. I really feel the software team is junior varsity. I do appreciate the forward motion in software and look forward to fixes coming soon.

Sounds like a failed OTA update, happened to my Model Y. At least it didn't brick the truck like it did to the Y.

I went to move my truck today and had a screen saying something to the effect of "Cannot connect to camera, service immediately"

I did a infotainment reset and the camera came back but the proximity lock setting to not lock/unlock at home stopped working.

I did a hard reset and it is business as usual again.

Wife called me earlier today and said she had both screens go dark (speedometer worked), then it reset and came back. Hasn't had an issue since. She really didn't freak out about it, because we had this same issue for a few days with 2024.39.xx. Eventually it fixed itself and hadn't done it until this latest update. No Apple music and didn't notice any lag.

Just completed a 2,500 mile round trip with zero issues and the fastest charging curves ever!! (Even with the winter weather). This is by far the one of the more stable releases I have seen since getting my Gen 1 quad in June 22.
The navigation was also super accurate with the arrival time and charging times which was never a thing in the past. I used to have PlugShare, Rivian, and ABRP out. This time I only used the onboard navigation.

Apple Music = finally fixed

If only the casting was out in this release.

No Apple music and didn't notice any lag.

I had this same thing happen today as well and my R1T is on 2024.39.01. The "crash" happened while I was switching from my iPhone audio back to radio. Another thing that happened a few weeks ago is I adjusted the navigation prompt volume while on the road and the main display froze. I was unable to adjust HVAC settings, change navigation (though it was still live and routing properly), and it did not unfreeze until I did a soft reset when I got home.
