I was worried about it when I ordered it but it’s honestly the best part of the R1 for me. There are very strong mid century modern cues throughout and it was very well put together.
I’m biased as mid century modern is my preferred design choice. My home office is decorated in that style. Aesthetics are very important to me and there isn’t anything I would change on the slate sky interior.

Mid century modern is pretty on brand for Rivian, no? Seems like you guys should start a thread here and see what happens. I’d like to know how long it takes to us to veer from MCM to CarPlay, the Cyberdumpster, Elmo, or service woes.

Just picked up my R1S Gen2 Tri yesterday, and trying to sell my R1S Gen1 Quad Launch edition. I agree with all the points made by OP. Audio is *slightly* worse than my old Meridian, but I am not an audiophile so the new Premium works for me.
Range on All-Purpose looks like about 350 miles, but my car is still "learning".
One big new plus: I have shared free charging at work, so everyone leaves their charge ports open, and when one person is done, they plug in a waiting vehicle. For Gen1, the Charge Port door would close itself after 2 minutes after vehicle locked. I even asked Wassym to fix this, but didn't happen. This morning is my first day at work with the new beast, and I left the charge port door open just in case - and it stayed open! I got a notification in the app that somebody had plugged me in. Seems pretty minor, but this is a big win for me.
