Amber Foglight Mod Using Lamin-X Film

I put the TWraps yellow on my R1T and am wondering if I added the amber over the top if it would be close to Rivian Yellow. . . ?

Seems the Rivian Yellow is a bit orange. Thoughts?

Understand how filters work on light and you’ll immediately realize what a terrible idea that would be.

Getting the trwaps ppf off was a task for sure, but it was very cold when I did the work. Don't scrape then off, as the foglight lenses are polycarbonate and will scratch (coffee prior to the process would have avoided this painful mistake on my part) bit a clean install of the orange, looks really good. I wouldn't recommend doubling the two up.

@twraps any chance you'd offer a similar orange film to the Lamin?

Heat gun or hair dryer would be your best bet, but be mindful of all the plastic etc in the area.

We probably will at some point, but not high on my priority list as I'd need to test a bunch of new materials first and I've been pretty busy working on a satin wrap (with edge wrapping) for the R1S

Anyone have any suggestions in where I can order a roll of light film with a custom color? Maybe I'll borrow colorimeter and get the hex code of the tow hook covers and use that to order a roll of film?

Just noting that the amber from the original post matches the little light over the front wheel well. I think it looks really good actually. Especially on green, but other colors too.

If it’s anything like past products by Lamin-X, it’s thicker. Twraps is just tinting film and not protection film. Also not marketed as protection film, but implied. But any sacrificial layer can offer some degree of "protection". The question is how much. Tinting film is not much thicker than paper.

Interesting Lamin-X have it listed for the gen 1 R1S but not T. It's the same fog lights. And I would never pick any color other than yellow for fog lights. Tinting is the act of filtering. And by definition, filtering is blocking out light so that only certain spectrum of the light source could pass through. That means you are reducing light output. And amber being darker than yellow, you are reducing light output by a greater amount. When you turn them on in fog, you want to see better not less. And because of how the human eye perceives light, the yellow spectrum is most effective than others. Amber/Orange are meant for front corner markers, per federal code. They are meant only to be seen without being blinding, not for illuminating surroundings.

Also the person who wrote the 2 star review on the Lamin-X page... Don't do that. Clearly a case of poor installation and failure to follow instructions.
