I also am very happy with the design of the SiriusXM app. It's very intuitive, runs smoothly (switching channels is practically instant) and much better designed than any xm interface from any other vehicle I've had. Nice to have my favorite xm stations back in my vehicle.

Here's my situation since the update a few days ago.
  1. Updated and used my existing XM digits (streaming only account) to log via the Rivian GUI. My streaming account was about $8.69/month & I've been an XM customer for about 20 years now.
  2. Rivian has said I'm on a "Trial" subscription in the app icon.
  3. Got an email from XM yesterday with some streaming Blah Blah.
  4. Got an email today saying Contrats on buying my new Rivian and I should activate my subscription permanently.
  5. I called XM support and spoke with them. In about 15 minutes on the phone I was able get a car streaming option with the included internet streaming for $8.99/month. So a $.30 increase over before.
  6. I still have my 30-day trial for free and then the $8.99 kicks in through Jan 2026 when it'll be about $20/month.
Not the smoothest implementation or set up but it is about the same to have the integrated system. As a side note, the XM app on the Rivian does sound much better than BT Streaming...not as good as Atmos on the Apple Music App, but better.
Hate to tell you this.. You got screwed.

I just called in to support and got the platinum for $4.99 a month for 12 months after the trial is over. also got them to lower my wife's car from $16 for platinum to $4.99 a month. Just call up and ask about what they can offer. I have had my lifetime sub for 21 years.

If you read the details in the car, it says subscriptions start at $5.99 not that you will get platinum for $5.99.

I have been trying to use my SXM trial for a week in Parker CO but most of the time it says trying to connect to internet, even when I’m parked in the garage for home wifi or on the road with 4 bars LTE. Anyone else having this problem with SXM?

My house is in a strange place and I have an issue with SXM and Apple Music in car as I get out of my WiFi zone.

YES! Same for me. I have four bars and it consistently says, "trying to connect". The ONLY time it does connect seamlessly is after a full restart (not a console restart). then it connects and instantly recognizes my username and account info. Come back the next day and its back to "trying to connect" even though there are four LTE bars and full wifi.

Edit: One thing I thought was odd was that when I spoke to XM customer service they told me it should be connecting via "built in satellite reciever for the Rivian". When I spoke to Rivian customer service they implied that it uses wifi. However, folks on Reddit have said that it uses the LTE connection, so not sure which is correct.
Following that, if you have to use wifi to connect to Sirius XM beyond your driveway, what network are you connecting to? Are you connecting to your Rivian Wifi? Whenever I do that it knocks Alexa offline for some reason. Any ideas with that... is this a service call?

It uses the LTE connection the car has. This is why you need a subscription for connect+. The service has provider is AT&T in all Rivians.

So very strange then because online in XM it shows the Rivian. On the way to to work this morning, I had four bars the entire way, but XM in the Rivian shows "trying to connect". Shows that it has recognized my listener profile, but also says "No Subscription". Just all kinds of issues unfortunately. Ended up just connecting to Sirius via my phones app, which works fine, but not the best solution.

Remember LTE is not 5G and much slower. I have issues with bars when in certain spots. Same as on my phone.

the id loads your profile not your subscription. The car has a separate radio ID that needs the subscription.

Not sure why we are making excuses here for Sirius and/or Rivian. Four LTE Bars of 4G for a 40 minute commute and the entire time it shows "Attempting to Connect" is unacceptable. Even when I had 4G as the standard, what - 10 years ago, I was able to stream XM in my car.

XM Online shows the Rivian Subscription and the (ESN) Radio ID, so they have the info. Its not a subscription issue or a "bar strength" issue.

I was just in park city and my phone had full bars 5G and no service. Bars don’t = actual signal strength. I have been in places with 2 bars and had extremely fast service.
