Yep, On or off, no settings in car. Had to use a scan tool type dongle to reprogram the set point. Would be nice if Audi or Rivian had 2 or 3 levels like the seats. These are the only 2 vehicles I've had with heated steering wheels at all.
Oh yea...steering wheel....sorry...I was thinking seats with multiple levels. Yes...it would be nice with steering control too.

Yup, mine does that and it’s a bit better UX I think. BUT also this is kind of like Louis CK talking about airplane WiFi and complaining about it being slow after just learning it’s a thing.

I don't know the bit, but I suppose it's true. Like airplane wifi sucking so bad it's unuseable ( last time I flew anyways) if the steering wheel heat actually lets the steering wheel get cold, then that's not good user experience. I haven't seen another car where this is the case, and none of them come close to the rivian in price. I'm actually considering buying a heated steering wheel cover on Amazon when I get my r1s back. That's terrible for a 100k dollar vehicle

Honestly, it feels like the Tesla UX perspective until a few years ago. All testing, range, experience, based on CA lifestyle basically, and everything else is an edge case. Hopefully Rivian doesn’t need a news article highlighting cold weather challenges like what happened with Tesla’s in Chicago last winter to really kick them in the ass and adjust from the mild climate perspective.

Yeah that sounds plausible. I really hope the same. Hopefully they figure it out before a critical article calls them out on it.
