A mishap with a Gator in reverse has left me with a reasonably small dent and scratch down to the metal. Does anyone have any experience with the various DIY dent repair tools? This seems small enough that I don’t expect it to be a big deal to repair.

Don't DIY. Find a local paintless dent repair guy who has experience with aluminum/tesla/rivian. I've had a couple of small dents repaired, and it's not a DIY repair. You need experience to do it right.

I’ve got requests for quotes into the nearest shops. Unfortunately, the closest I can find (which seems likely to actually be the closest) is 1.5 hours away in Santa Fe. I suppose I could check Pagosa Springs.

Paintless dent repair shouldn't be that expensive. My wife had a kid lose his balance and crater the door on our last vehicle. I think it cost around $500 and they took out not only the crater but all of the door dings. I polished the paint afterwards and you couldn't tell it was ever damaged.

If you go the paintless dent repair route, you can try Dr Colorchip after they push the dent out. I've used Dr Colorchip on several vehicles and I've been very happy with the results. It is easy to apply and you too should have good results if you follow their instructions. I think they have all the Rivian colors (I had them add the gloss black for the bumper lip).

Search on Facebook marketplace. That’s where I found my guys and he had already done a couple Rivians before mine. The guys I used in the past come to you. When I was in Brooklyn, guy came with his van into my buildings parking garage and fixed a big door dent while I was at work.

Awesome, I’ll definitely check Dr. Colorchip. I imagine that will be a much better solution than the touch-up pens that Rivian sells…

Thanks!

Good call, I’ll give Facebook a shot. Though I’m not optimistic, we are… very remote.

The Dr Colorchip the system allows you to level the paint, so yes it is very different from the touchup pens. They have a solution that you put on a rag and rub on the touched up area and it slowly dissolves the excess touchup paint away without harming your paint job. Their touchup paint is different too, but not to worry it comes in a kit. Any time I get road rash I use a little of their product to fix the chips.
