My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Curious the gripes about price to range ratio. “Way to expensive for the range”
The fully loaded ID buzz is $72k for 231miles
The Dual Standard Rs1 is $83k for 270miles. Dollar per mile they come out pretty damn close.
The R1S is highly capable at many things, has ridiculous power, and is similar (as you stated) in $$/mi. However, at the same time, the entire automotive industry seems to have ratcheted prices up considerably in the past few years, and the Rivians are, relatively speaking, something of a bargain in comparison.

So for many, including myself, paying that kind of money for an ID.buzz, even though we absolutely adore it and my wife fell in love with it years ago - just will not happen at that price. 282hp, 231 miles range, $72k for first edition vehicles is pretty nuts.

It will certainly have clever features, but the 50% penalty on performance and seriously hobbled range for >$70k (assuming you can get one without markups) and it's almost like VW doesn't want be in the business.

Have fun sitting in the third row. Or second row for that matter.

Were they not designed for different purposes?

The range to price ratio is what everyone seems to be complaining about. That was my question.

You are mixing up some specs but I get your points.
The FE AWD is 335hp, 231 for $72
Or FE RWD IS 282hp, 234 for $68

I think the Buzz is expensive, no doubt. But so are most desirable EV IMO.

With Elons recent antics no way a Tesla is in the cards anymore.

RS1 is an amazing vehicle but if you don’t need an off roader and comfortable passengers are important, than the Buzz is a very compelling offering.

Not sure why we end up stacking one car against another. Even though the Buzz is not my cup of tea, I can see some people liking it. But, that doesn't mean it takes away from the Rivian. Two very different types of cars but not an issue if you like one or both.

I'm with you on not getting a Tesla, and the market has plenty of options.

However, the specs listed vs. MSRP - I'm sitting the Buzz out, despite my intense VW nostalgia (having built several Type I, Type IV, and a couple of VW-powered Porsches ...)

The VW dealers suck. Wish all car companies sold cars like Rivian. No sleazy middle man.
The price I was quoting were MSRP from the VW website. Wish you could order direct from there like you can with Rivian

It's the misery machine? I don't get that phrasing with the rest of the scooby doo stuff. Why not make it the Mystery machine, which is what the Scooby Do one is?
