Has anyone had an issue with 2024.51.01 forgetting your Home location and not allowing you to reset it? I noticed yesterday my R1S was unlocking itself at home, and when I went into the lock settings it no longer had my home location set. No matter how many times I tapped on it, I could never get it to store the location.

So far, no issues. Gen 1. Did you perform a soft reset of the entire infotainment system?

I installed the new update over the weekend and don't really notice a lot of change. The only time I use reverse is backing out of a parking spot or my driveway. I haven't noticed a huge difference in AM and someone suggested turning off the "auto volume" feature from within the AM on the infotainment system.

When I drive home from work today I will put it to the test.

What I am hoping for in the next update is the ability to see messages and send messages without having to say "Siri" or "Alexa".

I've noticed the reverse is a little smoother now. It used to grab hard on the brakes when you'd lift off the accelerator. I'm pretty familiar with how reverse was before because I back into my garage every day.

Overall, for my Gen 2, I've had no problems with the new update and haven't had the "surround sensors unavailable" or "adaptive headlights unavailable - service soon" warnings that I was getting pretty regularly before. The bug fixes are welcome.

I'll try that tonight, thanks.
I have settings that don't stick either despite a reset so I think there are still bugs.

Just lick the camera directly.

Why use your finger as the middle-man? That's just gross.
I shouldn't have loved this as much as I did. Thanks.

Anyone else have WiFi hot spot and data break after this update?

Apple Music, Spotify, etc. don’t work anymore. Even after a hard reset.

I also just realized the hotspot isn’t working either.

A bit off topic. so apologies in advance.

I don't usually get the latest update until several weeks after its release, which gives me ample time to review the posts about the effects of the update. After reading about undesirable, and often underwhelming changes associated with many updates, I have often considered just not bothering and instead, just waiting for the next one. If I did this - skipping an OTA update - what happens at the next update?

no idea how many you can skip but I think there is a breaking point where you will have to contact them to force your update
not exactly the same but this happened to me after moving and not having my wall charger installed for 6 months - they had to force the missed firmware updates for it to start charging again

Every single EV owner should know this: Reset and Retest. When encountering software glitches always try a reset and see if the anomaly is resolved. If not, then you know the immediate next step is to engage Support, either through desktop or your mobile app, which may lead to a service request... and the support rep will walk you through all that.

Daily, on various forums, I sense a common reluctance to engage with Support. Why?? Support and Warranty are both services you paid for and have every right to exercise and utilize. Choosing instead to engage random strangers who do not have visibility of your vehicle data logs or proprietary troubleshooting instructions... It's just not productive. Plus, engaging Support elevates their awareness of bugs. It helps Rivian write better software, which is ultimately good for everyone. Unlike legacy auto, this isn't a one-way relationship. Rivian customers and Rivian are in it, together.

As for skipping OTAs intentionally, out of fear... Why would you? see above. There is nothing to fear. And, do you own a smartphone, tablet, computer and other personal computing devices? I don't know it for a fact, but educated guess says it's no different with a software defined car (computer on wheels)—it depends on the extent of the OTA. Some are patches of the previous release, like this most recent one. Others are complete overhauls and overwrites the previous. Patches would require the version it targets to be present. If not present, you will most certainly be prompted to make it present, so the patch could be applied.

I've done this, and.... nothing. One day it stopped prompting me for the "old" update, and the next day it prompted me for the new one. I threw caution to the wind and installed the new one. No issues.

1. The amount of useful information, tips, tricks, and saves I've gotten from random strangers on this forum is awesome. I stand by all you random strangers and thank you.

2. Apples and oranges. The amount of errors and bugs that come with updates to my phone/tablet/computer are miniscule compared to the errors and bugs that potentially could (and do?) come from a relatively new car manufacturer that seems to have as many hiccups in their software updates as they have fixes. Also, a software bug in my phone is a lot less likely to kill me and my family than a software bug in my 7000 lb truck.
