Zero chance they are going eyes free in 20262025 hands free, 2026 eyes free. With original Gen 2 hardware? 2026...hardware upgrade...free?
Just because they don't have any legal liability doesn't mean they weren't disingenuous, misleading, or lying.from the site's terms of service (from the archive)

And just because it didn’t come to fruition doesn’t mean they were disingenuous, misleading or lying. As I mentioned in here already there was a global pandemic and massive supply chain disruptions. Even established legacy auto shipped vehicles without certain features.Just because they don't have any legal liability doesn't mean they weren't disingenuous, misleading, or lying.
The inevitable “go buy a Tesla” responseIf you are dissatisfied with Rivian or your vehicle I have an idea. Trade it in and get something else. Just another suggestion since Tesla is so great; trade in on a Tesla. I hear their sales are rapidly slowing (for some unknown reason), and they are giving very high trade offers right now (seriously).
Again, I'm not buying that. They have shown ZERO capability of providing the features they claimed they had 5 years ago. They didn't say they 'might' have those features, they said they were already in testing and RJ said they were ready to demo them. Even if the BS excuse of the supply chain issues were true, that's over now. Why is Gen 2 still using MobileEye? If the capability existed 5 years ago as they claim, why does Gen 2 still fall so far behind? And just because it didn’t come to fruition doesn’t mean they were disingenuous, misleading or lying. Rivian could have fully intended to ship those features but were limited by hardware availability. The fact that gen 2 got an upgraded system lends credence to this idea.
This language can only get Rivian so far. For example, they can’t say the car gets 400 miles per charge and then have it turn out that people can only get 200. This language usually addresses issues on the fringe.from the site's terms of service (from the archive)

I have heard that Rivian using not only MobileEye but its own in-house hardware for its ADAS.....Why is Gen 2 still using MobileEye? If the capability existed 5 years ago as they claim, why does Gen 2 still fall so far behind?
Pretty sure it's the same in Gen 1; latitudinal with MobileEye vs. longitudinal with in-house control.I have heard that Rivian using not only MobileEye but its own in-house hardware for its ADAS.
Even if that’s the case I wouldn’t care because I bought the vehicle based on what it could do at the time of purchase.Again, I'm not buying that. I'm glad you aren't upset or disappointed right now, but call me in three years when Gen 3 comes out and Gen 2 still can't do hands free...
Neat.Even if that’s the case I wouldn’t care because I bought the vehicle based on what it could do at the time of purchase.
