We have a 2019 X and it has free supercharging so it's hard to let go of. It also has a new battery since the original one died at 50k miles. My main issue is that the charging curve sucks.

My best guess is that the refreshed models will get 4680 batteries and 48V architecture, but mostly because the CT is a sales disaster and they probably have extra 4680 cells that they don't know what to do with.

Your charge curve has to be better than 21 or 22 miles per hour.

They use (used?) those 4680 cells in the Texas build Model Y for quite a bit and the charging performance (non-48v) really, really sucked. @branden Flasch was tweeting about it extensively as he owned one. I'm not expecting the 'refreshed' S or X to be a tremendous improvement considering how quickly they seem to have announced this update.

The goofy gull doors + a low garage height + poor charging performance really soured me on the X overall.

I owned an early 2016 Model X P90Ds (March 2016 delivery) for 7 1/2 years. I liked the car and falcon wing doors, as my youngest was in a car seat and later a booster. I had only one door problem, when a sensor failed and detected phantom obstacles. I had half shafts and a front motor replaced, also some front suspension joints and the steering rig, all under warranty or extended warranty. My primary service outlays were tires, and a brake job at 6 1/2 years. I wanted to sell it with some remaining extended warranty, and the timing worked out when I got my R1S in mid-2023.

I didn't want another X for reasons including that the 2021 refresh didn't address any of my issues, and made the car worse by removing stalks and sensors. I doubt the next refresh would make it any more attractive to me.

Sold it to a guy on the west coast who wanted the rare color (Titanium, offered for less than a year) and lifetime supercharging - he flew cross country to pick it up, and supercharged his way home.

I'm loving my R1S and have had no issues other than getting bricked a week in by 12V system problems that took a week to fix. Much better cargo and seating capacity, nicer interior, and fun to drive on mountain logging roads.

I doubt 4680's ever go to S/X. Those vehicles were engineered around a different cell - 18650's I believe. Not worth reengineering the core structure, cooling, etc. to support a different form factor battery.

The Model X is a minivan, and arguably a pretty good electric one. I owned a 2019 X Performance Ludicrous with a 2.6 second 0-60 and 760+hp, it was stupidly quick. But the front halfshafts. Never had a problem with the doors or door handles.

I could see a refresh to the front and rear clips, ambient LED lights and (maybe) seat upgrades since it's been nearly four years. Squeezing out more range is likely as well. Maybe AI5 and adaptive matrix LED headlights, steer-by-wire - which I believe was supposed to be in the 2021 refresh thus the introduction of the yoke - will be. a game-changer.

I don't think it will be long, that's why Tesla raised the prices on S/X a few weeks ago so they can introduce the next model at the same price points.

Maybe I'll reconsider a Tesla if one of the following happens

Unsupervised FSD is a reality
Elon is booted from Tesla
Tesla significantly reduces the fatalities in their vehicles
