We’ve had our R1S just over a year. We’ve had the main battery replaced, we still have auto-acceleration issues from time to time, often can get into drive. Now we’re seeing wear on the armrest and flaking on the steering wheel bottom post.

The wear is only from use at 15K miles. I can’t believe they’re asking >$100K for this car now.

Okay. Then open a service ticket.

3 years and many more miles. None of those issues.

Rings are murder on steering wheels

I am seeing the same flaking at the seam on the arm rest of my one-year-old R1T on the passenger side (odd because not nearly as often used). I was planning to open a ticket for it one of these days to get it fixed during the warranty period. Looks like a supplier issue on the arm rest. NBD, will get replacement.

Steering wheel wear is probably from a wedding or heavy metal rock and roll ring. The armrest wear is a new one to me. We have 18 months and 16k miles and dont have those issues, but that doesn't mean others aren't having them. It's tough to make an interior that is rugged, but also soft enough to give it a little more luxurious feel than a Chevy Equinox.

Should be covered by new car warranty. Supplier hopefully has revised parts that are a bit more durable. Other than wear on the bolsters I had no flaking or other issues on mine after nearly two years at 24k miles.

these materials will be sensitive to chemicals, oils, and jewelry. Those items will cause significantly accelerated wear….not saying that’s the case here.

Over two years with mine and see zero noticeable wear anywhere.

Rings, lotions, and especially sunscreen will rapidly damage interiors. I test drove a rather new Lexus once that seemed much, much older than it actually was because of stuff like that.

So…OP has a total of 2 posts here, both thread starters complaining about something, and in both cases, did not engage in the conversation after the initial post.

Not saying there can’t be an issue, but I’m always weary of people who do this within forums. What’s the purpose of starting a discussion if you’re just going to post, then walk away for 8 months?
