Rivians for Blue Origin

How many flights has Blue Origin made thus far? Presence of Rivian vehicles far from new. TBH, there's nothing to discuss. Amazon/Bezos are early investors in Rivian. It's not a stretch to see them in use by BO. I can understand the novelty when seen for the first time. But this isn't even the second time. 11 times thus far?

Alright. Let's call every public library visitor a scholar then. Hooray!

True, but not all 11 manned NS flights got anywhere near as much PR as the first one and then this. When you're an auto startup, every flash on a news screen (that's not a crash) matters. And when the event is perceived as a "success" story, it matters way more. I'll take as many eyeballs as I can get, thank you.

Go back a few years when congress (specifically the Tea Party wanting to cut costs) was asking NASA what they really did, were their science experiments of any real every day use, and what use were they in the overall scheme of things
So the funding kept going away and now it’s being privatized for the lifestyles of the rich and famous

Glad to see some Rivian's but I am totally against this type of crap. This isn't done for science but for publicity. I would applaud them if they took their millions and fed some hungry kids or some homeless veterans.

Well, I agree, but I am a big fan of the Kuiper satellite network they are launching for low orbit internet service. It's great to see them competing with Spacex and that technology will help a lot of people.

I missed the start of the launch, and looks like there was lots of name dropping for "Rivians", so it was a bigger deal for Rivian than I thought. Looks like Jeff Bezos even chauffeured them in the R1S.

I'm surprised they didn't blur out the Rivians to protect their viewers from seeing them. Kind of like nudity.

Well, I agree, but I am a big fan of the Kuiper satellite network they are launching for low orbit internet service. It's great to see them competing with Spacex and that technology will help a lot of people.

That is great and could be amazing but I don't think Gayle King helped with that....

First set of Kuiper satellites will launch any day now. Hopefully by next year there will be a legit competitor to Starlink.

I think it will be well more than a year before it’s competitive. It took Starlink over a year to have enough satellites for reliable coverage and they were launching 60 at a time on a much more rapid cadence than Amazon can support. Right now there’s only four Kupier launches planned for 2025. Until Blue Orgin gets their New Glenn sorted they’re reliant on ULA, ESA and SpaceX to launch their cargo.

True but starlink started out with smaller and less capable satellites vs Kuiper which are closer to what startlink satellites are now. So I don’t think it will take Kuiper as long to get started as starlink did.
