There’s been images online of Amazon EDVs with lidar gears. And during OOS Kyle’s tour at Normal the EDV line was paused for the week for retooling and new upgrades. Now this… Maybe the goal is to fully automate package delivery? But I don’t think the tech is that far along. In the meantime the robots could lift heavier things and make delivery person’s life a little easier? Not necessarily bad. But musing on the bigger picture… AI is already displacing some mid to high paying jobs. Humanoid robots are coming for low pay jobs. What will be left?

Speaking of slippery slopes. The pundits love to single out one person or group to demonize and toss more red meat into their echo chambers. Don’t forget, even though Bezo is the founder, he isn’t the only one benefiting from the retail giant’s profits. Look at the board and every individual and institutional investors with large positions. Beyond him there are many more unknown figures behind this behemoth with an insatiable appetite for more. Same can be said for any business listed on the stock exchange. If you want to blame him, you might as well blame every single index, mutual or 401k fund with positions in AMZN. And you might be a fund participant yourself.

If anything, some sort of automation to queue up the next package for the diver to run to the door would be incredibly helpful.

Amazon is really good at logistics. The deliveries in the back of the vans are arranged in the exact order that they will be delivered in. And the nav screen takes them on an optimal route to get to each.
