Has Anyone Painted Silver Cargo Crossbars Black?

Like the title says. Looking for options to paint them. They look pretty esay to take apart. Also considering cold bluing options, but not sure if it will turn out consistant enought.

Strip and dip, or trade someone who wants silver but bought the black.

I assume the aluminum crossbars are clear-anodized, does cold bluing work through the layer?

Black vinyl crossbars

Not bad, but I do use my crossbars and want something that could stand up to some use.

Cold bluing is most commonly for steel. That aluminum black stuff is going to look like butt on something as big as the crossbars.

Some spray paint or plasti dip are probably your best options unless you want to completely disassemble them and get them powder coated.

Not bad, but I do use my crossbars and want something that could stand up to some use.

My bright crossbars have taken a beating. The black plastic trim around the t slot is mostly broken and shattered. I currently have electrical tape on there to keep my OCD at bay. I think the vinyl would be a good way to keep them looking new. Would the black paint get scratched up constantly? If you end up painting, let us know how it turns out!
