... the Beltway, specifically between the Mormon Temple and Tysons Corner, should be avoided if at all possible

We were 2nd in the nation as far as bad traffic a few years back. Apparently things have improved (ranked 9th worst last year), however, the Beltway, specifically between the Mormon Temple and Tysons Corner, should be avoided if at all possible.

Unfortunately, I have to use that part for any Service Center work…at least until the end of the summer, when supposedly a new SC is opening Northern VA (Sterling, near Dulles).
I agree but nothing compared to some of the places I've had the unfortunate luck to drive in overseas.

I have too. It’s called “The Beltway”. I wouldn’t recommend it. Neither would I recommend driving through DC. In fact, its best to give DC a wide birth altogether if you value your sanity…
Nonsense! DC is a great City and we have a veritable infestation of Rivians.

I’m headed there for July 4th weekend. That place plus the surrounding areas have some of the worst drivers I’ve ever come across and not to mention the horrible traffic. 😭

I’m partial to DC as well. For 40 years, I blamed the horrible drivers on the transient nature of DC’s population. Every 4 years there was a turnover in population with new administration / embassy staff. None here knows how to drive in the snow. Now I’m not so sure that the turnover is the reason. We have distracted drivers everywhere.

For the collective name for a group of Rivians, I’m not sure “infestation “ is the right term. I would definitely use that term to describe other vehicles. Using a murder of crows and a parliament of owls as a guide, I propose making the collective term for a group of Rivians be a “charge”. As in a Charge of Rivians.

Thumbs up? Down?

As a local I agree, shame it's going to shit right now with massive local impact

For the record, I was referring to the traffic when I recommended giving DC a "wide berth".

For example, we moved here over 30 years ago. I'm trying to remember a month where I-66 or I-495 wasn't under construction at some point. And in those 30 years, the Orange line hasn't budged an inch.

You want to improve traffic? Get cars off the road.

No front plate visible so, unless it's a dealer plate on the back, it is not registered in DC, VA or MD.

Excellent detective work. It would be amazing if the owner hopped on this thread and gave us all the details.

Not necessarily...my wife's A5 Cab hasn't had a front plate on it since we've had it (almost 2 years now), and my previous A5 didn't have one for the length of the lease. Stupid Audi requires an adapter for the front plate (unless you want to drill into the plastic), and I never got one.

I think I was pulled over once, and the officer never said a thing about it.

I think you’re right in enforcement currently being low to nonexistent. I was pulled over in 1990 in VA for lacking a front plate but am seeing more VA vehicles without front plates.

As someone registered in MD with no front plate on both cars I'll happily take the ticket.
