Wondering about getting running boards as form of protection from door dings. Assuming you get a set that stick out enough for that.

Also for aging friends and relatives.

Someone mentioned that , for the running boards to be effective against door dings, you need to leave the truck in it’s highest suspension position

I don't think you can raise it high enough to protect against a typical sedan/SUV back door that have the rear cutout for the wheel well. Someone opened their Subaru Forester back door into my truck and the contact point was at rear-light bar height.

For front doors, even low/standard height seems to be enough in most cases, unless obviously the other car is sitting even higher than the Rivian.

Some door dings are accidents - wind gusts, someone slips on ice, etc. But other ones are due to carelessness and lack of awareness of others. We put out cones around our work truck because we need the clearance to get the picks, rock bars, McLeods, and Pulaskis back in the truck. We’ve given up counting number of times people drive over the cones or move them so they can squeeze in.

OP, the title of this thread really rubs me the wrong way. It implies that you have been denied service beause of sliders. Any chance you can add a question mark to the title so that others won't skip the titles and assume that they can't install sliders because they'll get denied service?

The problem is it's too broad. It should be "Denied service at [specific SC] due to having GOAT Fab sliders". And official corporate policy is that any non-factory equipment is technically the customer's responsibility, not theirs, which is [legally] reasonable, logical and to be expected. If one cares to spend time to dig it up, I'm pretty sure Jeep and Toyota both have similar Cover-Your-Ass disclaimers. And it's individual dealers and service departments that are being accommodating, for sake of better customer relations (and revenue).

It's up to the reasonable or unreasonable human beings at each Rivian SC to determine what amount of risk they are willing to take and how far to stray from the baseline set by corporate policy.

Has anyone else been denied having their car lifted by a service center for the SC's pucks barely touching their Goat Fab rock sliders? I've never come across someone else with this before for this specific brand. Everyone's stated there were no issues, but Fife SC denied service as their pucks (big chunky) touched the rail. Wondering if this is a one-off or more common than previously stated back when I ordered and installed (Dec 2024).

Currently waiting at a Discount Tire who could do the service same day no appointment without making me wait hours to say no.
I've worked with Adam on these, have had no issues with my vehicles going into service with them on. The exception is we removed them prior to a service where I suspected they might have to drop the battery out. And they did, so it was worthwhile to do ahead of time.

Ultimately it's up to the person doing the lift and what they are comfortable with. Some of the aftermarket options out there probably could get damaged if they hit the rails, or scratch the paint on the lift.

I do have one of the actual pucks Rivian uses, but we've so far only checked several aftermarket ones. I'll try to check it out next week with my R1S he just put the new rail style on, and the original type. If there is an issue with the OEM puck, I'll see if there is anything we can do about it to prevent future issues.

Any news to report on the Rivian pucks fitting with Goat sliders?

I have the GOAT fabrication sliders on my r1t. I've taken it to both the lake Forest and Costa Mesa service centers for suspension service without any issues.
Great to read this as these are in my area. Installed my Goat running board sliders today.

Denver SC here. Have Goat sliders as well as comma and evplay and wiretapped radar detector. Vehicle needed a lift and full HVAC replacement so they had to work around ALL the add ons. They didn’t say a word.

Same, well no Comma but EV Play and Steps and they didn't say anything. But it was also towed in and in another state so I did not have the option to remove things.

I chose not to remove anything but brought donuts instead.

Good question. I had an older set and ordered the current ones last week (Rev C). I'll post up some photos on all the different options when they come in, and if there are any issues, I'll make sure they accommodate going forward. I don't anticipate any concerns, but it's always hard to know for sure.

I had the goat step sliders on my R1T and never had an issue either at the SC or with mobile service, though the mobile guy did take a while to make the decision that it would be fine to use his pucks to lift it up.

There's obviously a market and demand for sliders and running boards; perhaps Rivian should back off on the Rivian x (clothing company/tent) campaign and partner with someone for an official set.

The good thing about Goat sliders is they don't use HV pack mounting points. And, unless pucks are oversized, they retain normal access to the insertion points for regular pucks. If SC refuses service, it's because they are being overly cautions, or didn't bother to look and understand the sliders do not interfere with those insertion points.
