R1S Gen 2 C Pillar Dimples

Hi All,

New member here and I also just took delivery of a R1S Gen 2. After noticing a gamut of issues after taking delivery, the most worrisome was the dimple / ripple on both sides of the c axis pillar below the Rivian logo (see link). Mine is more pronounced on the passenger side and according to the video linked above this is on almost every R1s Gen 2. I have seen a previous post where others have commented, but there wasn’t quite a definitive solution posted. So I thought I’d bring this up again and include a poll this time.

Yeahp, was also present in G1 although not as common. Every single G2 I saw at delivery had it. Looks like it comes from the stamping.

Now that I see what you mean, here is what mine look like. I can see from your pictures that there is dimpling on yours. Mine appears not to have that on either side. Driver's side.

I picked it up in Nov last year.

I changed my vote.
Now that I know what to look for, I can see it on both sides. But it is REALLY small. I would have never seen it.

Well... never noticed the small dimple on the driver side... that is until you posted... Thanks...

I have it too. It's for whatever reason more noticeable on our blue one vs. our green one. Not sure if the build date is why or if the blue shows it more. Green S was Nov '24 delivery and Blue S was March '25 delivery. VIN 58xxx vs. 66xxx.

I have a 2025 R1S Perf Dual Max and I have the dimples on both sides in the exact same area. I originally thought it was my PPF so I disregarded. Ugh.

When was your's Manufactured?

Gen2 LA Silver had the dimples at pick up. SC had their paint people sand/repaint in that area a couple of months later. Car was built 8/24.

Glad they did something about it. How did it turn out paint wise? They just sanded that area? Or did they sand and fill with bondo / filler?
