Price of a nearly-new R1S performance dual large

Hello, I'm new to this forum and looking for some advice. I currently drive a plug-in hybrid and considering switching to an R1S. I have found a 2025 R1S dual large with performance upgrade, black exterior, ocean coast+dark ash wood interior, panorama roof, and bright pkg. It was used for about a month and has <2K miles. It appears to be Gen1 and is in great shape. They are asking $75K. What would you consider a good deal? The MSRP was around $92.5K. I plan to drive it for 3-yrs and then decide. If I get a great deal on this, I'll go for it vs leasing a Gen2 R1S. One more question - considering that it is nearly-new, would you still get a pre-purchase inspection from a Rivian service center? If its a 2025 it's not a gen 1. I think they switched over in the 24's

I could be wrong. However, it still has the CCS port, not the NACS.

And a 2025, as others have discussed here, is technically gen 2 which means button to open doors, better cameras, improved self driving tech, etc but no NACS port, those are going to be 2026. My main concern would be why would someone dump it after a few months/little mileage...that is a huge loss from the buyer, so they either must have absolutely hated the vehicle (truly cannot imagine why) or had too many issues. That would be my main concern. I'd lease personally over a deal like this, as that would offer plenty of incentives at the moment to at least come within the ballpark of this vehicle and get a nice true new owner experience and can catch issues early on that could be fixed rather than pick up a potential mess from someone else. That's my two cents! But yes - if you do want to go this route, definitely see if you can get a service center to look at it if that is a possibility.

Or...have you looked at used quads? Those show up in the high 60s/low 70s from 2022/2023 and usually come with niceties like the camp speaker, aluminum pedals and under trunk storage liner that may not come with the 2025. Oh, and a decent more HP than the dual.

Thanks for your suggestions. The prev. owner did not like the driving experience I am told and opted to trade it in for an ICE car. Will definitely have it inspected if I go for it.

Can't imagine hating the driving experience on these vehicles...specially not enough to lose $20k+ to get rid of it. But to each their own! Best of luck!

I did that with a different vehicle a few years ago. It lasted a couple months in my garage, I hated it but it didn't have any issues. Well the tech sucked, but that's a whole thing.

Oh, several vehicles I'd imagine people would rather lose money on than keep. A Rivian though? It was love at first drive for me and haven't looked back. Specially for an ICE vehicle unless I roadtripped 500 miles daily. To get rid of a brand new 2025 Rivian over "the driving experience" just seems kind of sad to me unless they went fully unprepared to the EV experience.

Yeah I agree. My Rivian is far and away the best vehicle I've ever owned. I usually have a wandering eye for new cars but my last car was just swapping the R1T gen 1 for an R1S tri. Right now the only thing I would consider to not be a downgrade is the Gravity, and I would have to drive one in person before being sure of that.

FWIW the deal I got on mine (on a lease but with immediate buyout option) is about 75k as well, so not far off. The original owner is eating the sales tax, but that's to be expected.

For $75K, I think it's a good deal. Take a look at Rivian's own inventory of used vehicles. A quick glance shows that they are about $80k. Check your region, prices may vary.

Ask the seller to share the service history. It should be on their Rivian App profile . That can give you an idea how much problems they faced.

Also, keep in mind that the vehicle is still under warranty. Be aware that coverage depends on battery size and year. See link.

Someone mentioned looking at a Gen 1
Since they are older, they can be cheaper. Probably around the $70K depending on miles. If you're curious about the delta, see link below. There is a table that outlines the differences.

I have test-driven R1S a couple of times (I don't own one yet). Last week, I got an opportunity to test drive Lucid Gravity. The interior is really impressive and more luxurious than R1S in my opinion, but I did not like the ride quality as compared to R1S. The accelerator felt a bit heavy and you really had to push it to get moving.
