Still in the used market and trying to discern how prevalent this issue is. Secondarily, does a turtled Rivian suffer increased risk of turtling again after the initial issue is resolved? If i'm shopping in the used market, do I have any way of knowing if a Rivian has turtled before?

Thanks for your participation.

I have an early VIN R1T and had the rear drive unit fail early in my ownership. It went into to turtle mode and let me pull over in a parking lot to call service. They instructed me to go into conserve mode and limp home since I was pretty close and they had a flat bed at my house the next day to take it to service center. They got me in a loaner quickly and got me back in my truck in about three weeks. I’ve got 39,000 miles now and would not hesitate to buy another R1T.

Twice ('25 R1S) - two bad cooling valves in a row at its first and third high speed charging sessions (separated by a 10 days stay at the Phoenix SC). Third has been solid.

‘24 R1T. After one year of ownership (12k miles), the only issue I’ve had worth mentioning was a faulty rear passenger door handle that was “possessed”. Fixed when my PTC was installed.

I say this on the eve of me driving ~ 400 miles to Rochester, NY. Hope I didn’t just jinx myself…

Yes, but soft reset fixed it.

From the posts here it seems that although issues can happen Rivian usually resolves them. Any issues I’ve ever had were 100% resolved

They resolve them sure, but the wild card is how many weeks are you going to be driving in an Enterprise rental while they do? People would be a lot more forgiving if loaners were available from the first stranding incident. Maybe open one less space this year and set aside some more loaners for every service center - that's my thought.

I’ve been lucky to have a Rivian loaner on the rare occasion I needed one. It did make the repairs much easier to swallow

Yeah - that's what got me upset with them real quick. Driving to Phoenix to trade in my Gen 1 and coming home in a Mitsubishi, which I kept for 10 days. The second time they had a loaner waiting on me at San Diego SC - but it could just be Phoenix. Nothing good happened at that SC.

All water under the bridge at this point and the trouble-free record since has been helping improve my attitude. Fingers crossed it continues.

Not yet with 2023 R1T Quad. But 2020 Tesla Model Y did after a mouse chewed through a wheel sensor.

BTW currently in a 2023 R1T loaner while El Segundo SC is chasing down an SOS (LTE antenna???) error and a few other items including a service bulletin type item.

1st time I have NOT had to Uber to an Enterprise for a rental:
1. R1S - Rental
2. Silverado EV - Rental
3. Lucid Air - Rental
4. R1T - loaner

I think that’s all of them, may have had a forgettable ICE in there somewhere. Have enjoyed trialing the various EVs actually.

Not only did I get an R1T as a loaner when my PTC was getting installed, it was a Quad (mine is just a Dual). I tried “Launch Mode” once…

…once.

Your results are going to be skewed. I have never had turtle issues, and I’ve stopped responding to most of these surveys.

Monday - hit pothole at 55mph. Error message "Service Suspension Soon". Turtle icon and message "Performance limited". 51mph limit.

Wednesday - dropped off to service center

following Tuesday (today): rear jounce lines replaced ($2xx, $9xx with labor) and good to go again.

This was my first time seeing the turtle icon that I recall. I voted yes, not sure if that's the intention of the question.
