Elon is a weirdo who makes a cool car. I just find it funny how so much attention is spent on Tesla and Elon here on this site.
Well, kind of makes sense Elon and Tesla would get a lot of attention on this site. Tesla is a primary competitor. Elon gets a lot of attention everywhere, if for all the wrong reasons. Seems to me like it would be odd if they didn’t get a lot of attention on this forum.

As for calling Elon a “weirdo,” well, that’s one word a person could use. I’d choose a lot of others first.

Tesla is a primary competitor.
I don' think people are cross shopping Teslas when thinking about a pickup/suv or cross shopping Rivians when thinking primarily about EV sedans. They just happen to be 1/3 EV based companies delivering vehicles in the US.

Rivian's primary competitors are most likely in the traditional ICE Pickup and SUV space along with a few higher end EV SUV/Pickups from the Korean's and Ford.

Feels like Teslas primary competitors are EV sedans from Hyundai, Kia, volvo etc along with ICE sedans in the US and Chinese EV's abroad.

It's going to be a lot more relevant of a comparison come R2 time. People WILL be directly shopping that with a Model Y.

You find it weird that the #1 EV manufacturer in this country is discussed on a forum for an EV startup? I think it makes sense. Also, "weirdo" is an interesting way to describe Elon. Not the word I'd use, but I don't want this comment to get deleted for politics.

And I find it weird that each time Tesla or Leon are criticized you appear to take it personally :like:

Disagree. Cool tech? Sure. Cool car? Debatable. It’s the new Lincoln town car. I find the look of the 3 and Y boring and dated. Tesla needs a new model. The refresh was a flop

Ok? $6500 is still a chunk. Nobody is selling cars was my point. But Tesla and Elon live in Rivian fanboys’ heads 24/7
EV sales are up by double digits worldwide.
Tesla sales are down by double digits worldwide.

Good point. At the same time, I would have considered a Model X if not for my dislike of Elmo and mistrust of Tesla. (FSD lies, etc.) I wanted a three row family hauler. I don’t really need the R1’s full capabilities and might have liked saving a ton getting a used Model X even if it’s dated and blah. And as others have pointed out, with the R2 coming, these companies will be head to head. I suspect the R3 will further the cross shopping.

It’s amazing to me that Tesla screwed up so badly and allowed everyone else to catch up.

It's clear now that they want to sell tech, not vehicles. Shame, as from an engineering standpoint, the refreshed model 3 and Y are actually quite impressive to drive.

Absolutely, within 30 seconds in a showroom or on a test drive.
They have been actively outright lying, repeatedly. When I test drove a CT I was assured, "FOR SURE WITHIN A MONTH," that it would have AP. Guess what? Now it will never have AP, ever. Should I be able to sue if I bought the WankPanzer? I don't want FSD but I do want AP/EAP.

To be fair it’s the just the same handful of posters that are akin to teenage fanboys with a brand hatred that is actually really funny to read who

I personally love both brands & will continue being a customer of them.
