This was a special thing for the kids' school, only one movie, Super Mario Bros. We have done the double in the past, usually resulting in sleeping kids.
Lol yup.
my kids were always asleep by the double feature too.

Tried once and the delay was awful. I just ordered a small Anker speaker that has an FM transmitter and hope to go this weekend or next.

It's a bummer I can't rely on the car speakers though.

Movie season is almost upon us. Wishing Rivian would add an analog/Drive-in mode that removes the lag/delay.

Alternatively, I'd use a small tuner with a audio in adapter somewhere some how.

More importantly, can all of the external lighting and screens be turned off while keeping the radio on for the movie audio.?
"Camp Courtesy" mode will shut down all the external lighting and disable most sounds. It also prevents 'walkaway lock', so be careful with that. I use it often and like this feature.

Bummer on the FM tuner radio lag. Model Y FM radio does not lag at drive-in. Tried it 2x with 2023 R1T and the delay introduced is at least 1 second, probably more. In quick conversations another character is already talking before you hear the first one.

Would like some medium-quality stereo solution.

Camp Courtesy mode is great though.

Need to wire up an Audiovox (do they still exist?) with a 12v adapter and splice some RCA Ys into the stock infotainment speaker system.

Anyone found an external input?

Maybe RCA out from cheap head unit to RCA input on Bluetooth transmitter?

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Anybody have any thoughts on how the truck would work at a drive in? Can you leave the doors open for a long period of time? What about the camp speaker? I know there are fm frequency apps for ru phones that could then Bluetooth to the camp speaker but I don’t think those apps work the way you would need them too for a drive in. I think the phone would have to actually pick up the close frequencies specifically for the drive in. Any thoughts?
Most drive-ins these days just have you tune in to a radio frequency that isn’t being used in your area. If you wanted to sit in the bed and watch the movie I’m sure the camp speaker could broadcast the radio channel.

@Gen(R3)Xer, radio does not work well. There is a lag that delays audio by at lease 1 second. The video is severely out-of-sync. Additionally, how would you broadcast an FM radio channel to the Camp Speaker? It does not have an FM tuner, and I am not aware of a way to OUTPUT the infotainment system to the Camp Speaker.

I’d love to hear from a savvy forum user who has solved for FM Radio induced delay at the drive-in theater.

I just bought a decent portable FM Radio with a stereo mini output. Maybe, one could use a bluetooth transceiver, but they too have latency. For now next time I take the R1T to the drive-in, we’ll use the single 3ā€ speaker (mono) rather than the stereo speaker array of the 2023 R1T.

Unless someone finds a way to access some sort of aux in, I am not certain this can be solved.

Have used a 2020 Tesla MY radio at the drive-in, and it does NOT have the noticeable latency, that the R1T exhibits.

So, a software update MIGHT be able to resolve it, but I am doubtful that Rivian would exert the resources or that it isn’t a hardware issue that can't be resolved.
