What are the chances of the 2018 Max Pack R1T Pre-Order holders getting moved up the 2022 line if they switch to a Large Adventure Pack R1T?

Slim or none?

Guess I'll have to wait until Rivian "gauges my interest" in January so I can get a R1T before my very pregnant wife becomes a very pissed off mother.

I share the concerns of many max pack holders that prices will drastically increase by the time I get my truck. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of choice in the market for electric anything that can hold 2 adults, 3 car seats, and the luggage that goes along with the car seats. So for now I am captive to rivian.

I now regret not getting a LE when I had the chance. C'esr la vie.

I do feel bad for the people here who have been ignoring the writing on the wall and are surprised by this announcement. Lets hope they can get 10k trucks out next year and all the earliest pre-order holders get their vehicles.

IF (and note that is a big IF) Rivian is able to make good on the delivery windows they sent out today via email to preorder holders, they will get more than 10k trucks out next year. I preordered in Aug 2021 and received a delivery window of Oct-Dec 2022. I'm sure there are more than 10k R1T preorders in front of my Aug 2021 order.

I feel for the people who ordered pre-2020 and need the max pack. The 400+ mile range was something that Rivian advertised early on and attracted early reservations. Rivian also initially planned to produce the most expensive versions of the truck first. But Rivian made clear as early as Sept 2020 that it was pivoting and prioritizing the large pack over the max pack.

I see this as less than a "new" delay, and more as expectations for the max pack coming in-line with the delays already announced for the LE. In Sept 2020, the plan was to deliver LEs starting in June 2021 and the max pack coming 6 months later in January 2022. Now the LE has been pushed back, which most deliveries expected in March - July 2022. The max pack will continue to trail LE deliveries by about 6-8 months till the first half of 2023. The max pack is maybe getting pushed back a couple months, just reflecting the continued delay in supply-chain and ramping up deliveries. It was never rational to expect that the max pack would start in early 2022 after the LE was pushed back.

I know that is no easy pill to swallow for someone who pre-ordered the max pack pre-2020 and is waiting almost 4 years for the max pack. If anyone with a pre-2020 order switches back to the adventure pack for 2022 delivery, I would absolutely demand that Rivian give you the free wheel upgrade you could have originally opted for with the LE had you known the max pack would be pushed so far.

He did good to let people know to lower their expectations! Explorer or Max Pack won’t start production until 2023! That’s going to piss off a lot of people.

If others start delivering their EV trucks/suvs before Rivian, then folks will jump ship pretty simple. I'm in the same boat. I need a 3 row EV SUV, Model X cargo is not big enough and its over priced. But if others come start delivering 3 row EV SUV, I'm definitely going to take a hard look at them......

By the way, I took these pics of "Kandi" EV Truck the other day in Dallas. They have terrible range but its an EV truck.

Interesting, your max pack hits your date since I have an Explore R1S ordered in October 2021 and have first half of 2023.

For me this truck is far less viable as a 300 mile adventure vehicle. With huge reductions in towing and off road the extra range is needed for me..

Southeastern PA, Feb 21, 2021 Reservation Date. Originally R1T, changed to R1S in May.

South east PA too with an October 21 reservation for an Explore R1S and a delivery date in first half of 2023. That makes sense.

I just received my production email from Rivian. My R1T Explore that was ordered in November of 2018 will be produced in the first half of 2023. That's not real good for an early pre-order. That's always the way it goes for me. If I had ordered the Adventure, they would be making the explore first.

After reading and digesting the Rivian email this morning, I have A couple of concerns. My pre-order is for an Explore Package R1T. I placed the pre-order and deposit in November of 2018.

It would appear from the email that Rivian will fill Adventure Package orders before the Explore Package orders. As Adventure and Explore pre-orders are still available. Theoretically, an Adventure order placed today will be produced before my two year old Explore order.

This concerns me for two reasons. I will probably not get my R1T order for at least another year, maybe more. On top of that, if my truck is put at the back of the line, Rivian may reach the 200,000 unit threshold where the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit will go away.

If my early order gets pushed back far enough to miss out on the tax credit, I would really be upset with Rivian.

With a pre-order date of November of 2018 for your R1, you have almost zero chance of missing out on the federal tax credit. Rivian is not delivering their 200,001st vehicle anytime SOON.
