Just got mine. Switched from max pack to large this morning, so appears the system doesn't account for that. Oct 2020 pre-order.

Your Adventure Package R1T estimated delivery window will be the first half of 2023.
FYI, I switched my 8/21 preorder from Explore to Adventure about 10 days ago and received a Oct-Dec 2022 delivery window. (SF Bay Area, CA)

Interesting, your max pack hits your date since I have an Explore R1S ordered in October 2021 and have first half of 2023.
Interesting on yr R1S. Did you have max pack? I'm in Boston BTW.

Yeah I just can't swing a 300 mile range when one leg to work in the winter would drain 156 miles of battery (125 miles one way, more at highway speeds).

Or I'll be really pissing off the Rivian extraction team for all the needed charging rescues.
I think you’re right. One charging rescue a day might be more than they're anticipating. I hope you manage to get your Max Pack sooner rather than later, but after today’s letter, I sure wouldn’t bet on it.

As close as you are to the Mothership in Normal, it must drive you a little crazy to see R1T’s everywhere.

R1S on order
I just received my production email from Rivian. My R1T Explore that was ordered in November of 2018 will be produced in the first half of 2023. That's not real good for an early pre-order. That's always the way it goes for me. If I had ordered the Adventure, they would be making the explore first.

Just brutal, I feel terrible for people in your shoes. I have an August 2021 Explore R1T that is also 1H 2023.

This is an announcement of a 1 year delay for Explore trims.

Agreed, I did a day one Lightning reservation just to get in the queue as another option. Other than an email in November about "SEE THE F‑150 LIGHTNING™ TRUCK IN AR‍/‍3D" (which was lackluster considering the email hype) I have had zero point zero useful communication from Ford. Rivian has been better.

I also have a Lighting preorder. I received this email a few days ago: "

Orders start at the beginning of the new year, and because of unprecedented interest, we’ll be sending invitations to order at staggered times.

Now, this kind of demand means many of you won’t get a 2022 F‑150 Lightning™ truck, but rest assured we will hold your reservation so you’ll have a chance to order a future model year.

We’ll stay in touch with you throughout this process and let you know when we’re sold out of the 2022 model. We’d hate for you to cancel your reservation, but if you do, you’ll get a full refund from your dealer.

The excitement and demand for this history‑making vehicle is incredible, so we appreciate your patience. And we’re committed to keeping you up to date right up until your F‑150 Lightning is plugged in and ready to take this revolutionary leap forward.

I feel for the people who ordered pre-2020 and need the max pack. The 400+ mile range was something that Rivian advertised early on and attracted early reservations. Rivian also initially planned to produce the most expensive versions of the truck first. But Rivian made clear as early as Sept 2020 that it was pivoting and prioritizing the large pack over the max pack.

I see this as less than a "new" delay, and more as expectations for the max pack coming in-line with the delays already announced for the LE. In Sept 2020, the plan was to deliver LEs starting in June 2021 and the max pack coming 6 months later in January 2022. Now the LE has been pushed back, which most deliveries expected in March - July 2022. The max pack will continue to trail LE deliveries by about 6-8 months till the first half of 2023. The max pack is maybe getting pushed back a couple months, just reflecting the continued delay in supply-chain and ramping up deliveries. It was never rational to expect that the max pack would start in early 2022 after the LE was pushed back.

I know that is no easy pill to swallow for someone who pre-ordered the max pack pre-2020 and is waiting almost 4 years for the max pack. If anyone with a pre-2020 order switches back to the adventure pack for 2022 delivery, I would absolutely demand that Rivian give you the free wheel upgrade you could have originally opted for with the LE had you known the max pack would be pushed so far.
Had a whole rant typed up, but decided to delete it and start over.

It's the continued late information delivery that frustrates me most add to that, the information put out raises more questions than it answers.

I don't know what I will chose to do now in all honesty. Max pack was always a peace of mind/ convenience choice. Now do I cut it down to large pack and periodic frustration in favour of early delivery?

While I do live in Vancouver Canada, there are charging options here and there, but whats available is mostly level 2 chargers. That doesn't bode well for lengthy trips, or camping outside the city.

Not the holiday season email I was looking forward to. I expected this time next year honestly, not potentially second half of 2023 (is that Christmas 2 years out??)

R1T Explore, Max Pack, N. California, ordered 11/24/21, delivery estimate 2nd half 2023.

This is about what I had expected but based on this I now expect it to actually not arrive until 2024.

Seems I ordered the least ordered config (despite being the "correct" one ;)), making me basically last in line. Wonder what it would be if I change to Adventure/non-Max (which I'm quite a bit less interested in). I will also likely be changing my delivery location next year to remote Montana, so wonder how much that might delay it even further.

The good news is I have a good car currently and this 2+ year wait will give me a lot more time to save up for the upgrade.

Edit: I'll be okay waiting till ~spring 2024 _if_ I still get the tax credit AND they honor my order price.

1st half of 2023. But I changed my battery pack to the large one rather than the max pack. If that is the case, like many said, the lightning pre-orders may start happening. Rivian may lose ground to other manufacturers. I am disappointed to see that the large pack is scheduled for 1st half of 2023 unless their backend system still states I have a max pack on order. That'll be more than 4+ years of waiting.

Yeah, I did get that email too. Maybe I'm being unfair, but to me that's 0.0 useful communication. I admit I have given Rivian a pass on their early communication challenges because they are a startup. But Ford's been releasing new vehicles for how many years? Like over a century? They don't deserve a pass. It's an F150 with an electric drive train, that's nothing compared to Rivian's efforts and challenges.

If I were an explore person, one thing I'd be thinking about is whether Rivian might increase the price due to immense levels of inflation and rising supply costs by the time they finally start shipping explores.

You can hope that Rivian will grandfather in existing orders, but if you're getting an explore to save money it's something to consider if the explore ends up costing as much as an adventure down the line and they decide not to grandfather in existing orders.

For anyone like me who changed from Max pack to Large pack this morning after the email -- I chatted with support and it sounds like that change isn't reflected in the estimated delivery windows sent out today. However they said the change will be reflected in your account soon (I guess when that feature rolls out).

They mentioned Q3 2022 for me (moved up from 2H '23), but I think that was cut and paste from some table the CS rep had. Folks with similar order dates in similar regions to me are seeing Q4 '22 (which is more what I expect to see)

I expect folks that drop Max Pack or upgrade to Adventure will see an earlier date once that account feature is working.

This is something I'm thinking about. Issue is, I really want the Max Pack, and adding Adventure bring it over 80k, probably missing the tax credit.

What would be really sad is if they end up raising the Explore price to where it goes over 80k (with Max Pack) by the time they deliver.

My gut feeling is they're a startup and have a massive valuation with plenty of cash so they will be willing to honor order pricing, even if they take a hit due to inflation etc. The way Tesla did it.
To not do so would mean a lot of backlash from crucial early adopters.

Some clarity/confirmation
from Rivian about this would be really nice.

If only there was some way for Rivian to communicate this! :movember:
