I bet they're realizing a wiring harness isn't that hard to install. Problem is that isn't in the retrofit guide. I'll post back if I see updates to the retrofit instructions.
Sure as shit, they added installing harness to the instructions. It looks like those with manual or no tonneau are missing the wiring harness... Which is easy to install.

Rivian R1T R1S V2 Powered Tonneau Cover ($3300 installed) now listed in Rivian Gear Shop 1000005885

I highly recommend anyone "denied" call back and ask "can I have the wiring harness installed first?"

I don't think this is right. I'm a 2023 R1T, vin 26XXX, and mine is compatible. So later than others here saying they aren't. I also was forced off the auto tonneau and I did NOT change to manual so that theory doesn't work either? That said I got my truck from the shop when one popped that matched my build, so maybe those trucks came ready or something I dunno.
My scenario sounds similar to mine since I had pre-ordered the auto tonneau as well before production stopped. I will know and may reach out to the SC before my appointment on Monday.

Sounds similar to my scenario with my vin 18XXX. I will reach out to my SC to see if my R1T is compatible.

To counter prior posts... R1T LE VIN 13XX (they don't get much older than mine) it's available for my truck.

Just call and was informed my truck was not compatible. I have the service appointment on Monday. I will have them look at the truck directly to determine. Hoping that the call was a mispeak as well.

assuming you meant the gvwr sticker? That has a 3/23 listed in the upper right corner. I purchased from the store, since they had one that matched my original configuration minus the tonneau and gear tunnel slider.
Yeah, that's what I was curious about. Mine was Feb 2023.

Can you ask specifically what's not compatible? Is it the rails? Channels? Lack of wiring harness? Wrong wiring harness? Having to cut a bolt?

All of those can be fixed with new parts, or adapters. Or a cutoff wheel to cut the bolt, which is explicitly in the instructions.

Preferably, have them physically point at on the truck what's not compatible.

I’m x16xxx and was told not compatible- the gal really didn’t know why - I bought my R1T from the shop fairly early on (have the Meridian) and maybe wasn’t configured for a TC? bummer, I thought for sure I could get it.

I called again and spoke to a different agent. You are correct. It's all about asking the right questions. I followed up with the question, "Is it because my truck is missing the wiring harness?" The answer was yes. Next follow up question, "Can I have it added to my build?" The answer was yes but not now, but for future. I was offered a manual tonneau cover to which I declined since I have built one and it is in service.
Based on your assessment and post, it is doable confirmed by Rivian, but Rivian may need to catch up on the latest breaking information to accommodate builds missing the harness.
I suppose, they would go after the low hang fruit first that have "everything" in place for the purchase and installation.
The last thing I asked, and I quoted from the movie, "Dumb and Dumber", So there's a chance? to which the Rivian agent laughed and said, "yes".

Thank you so much for calling and asking! Knowledge is power.

Alright so the next step: who has a "not compatible" truck and is willing to take off a couple bed panels and take pics? 🤗

I think this compatibility thing is all in flux, info-wise. I called in this morning, was told "probably not but let me check and call you back". On callback was told that it actually maybe is possible but is up to the individual service center and what parts they have available (and implied that the rails were key to the equation) and that the only way to know for sure is to open a ticket with them. I told him to go ahead and do so, so perhaps I'll find out in a few months? This is an early VIN 2022 R1T that appears to have just rails for manual slats (I picked it up used recently so don't know how it was ordered)

I just called back with this new information and asked specifically to have a harness added to my build and was told unequivocally that it could not in spite of what’s being said here. again VIN is 16xxx.

My 2023 T, vin 25###, will have the new PTC installed, as part of other work being done, and currently at the SC.

Yeah, my plan is to take it in for the service i've requested early October and then go from there. If I need to bring out the documents to back up my assertion that it is possible, then I will.

Might also call today to see if I can sort this with CS.
