I want to drive a Gravity now after this review. I've heard some things that made it sound underwhelming but this makes it sound terrific.

Big fan of Lucid products, but seems like a Tesla “suv” - car product vs SUV/Truck. Just because it’s 4 / all wheel drive, it doesn’t make it an SUV.

Funny how evs all get compared: rarely happens with ice vehicles. Our Audi S6 Wagon drove far better than any subsequent SUV. Although both had tailgates and AWD, I really wouldn’t compare them per se

SUV vs Minivan? Interesting.
Yep. Gravity's a minivan the same way Model X is a minivan. They're just minivans without sliding doors.

Not saying that's a terrible thing. They're both good minivans. But they're also both not SUVs.

I didn't expect them to say the gravity has worse tech and interior, but I've never actually been in a Lucid either. I did work a mile north of their factory for 2.5 years though!

I love Lucid's tech, just amazing but the Gravity is to minivan-ish for my taste.

Imagine if BMW or Mercedes bought Lucid for the tech, now those would be amazing vehicles.

Having been in both, Rivian's interior is clearly meant for longevity while Lucid's is more luxury and comfort. It is not, by any means, worse. The tech is more responsive than Rivian's, but lacks some features and somehow still has more bugs.

Interesting take. I’d have to agree with all of it. We have both the R1T (tri) and R1S (dual), and we looked at but didn’t drive the Lucid Gravity (only the Air) at the time we bought our S. Rivian build quality and interior are superior, but R1S ride and handling still aren’t great. My R1T ride and handling are so much better than my wife’s S. The 2nd Gen S is miles better than Gen1 (we drove a gen1 a year ago and thought it was awful, the Gen2 is noticeably better). We are finding my wife’s getting over 400 miles so I think Rivian range is very reliable. Hoping software updates for the S will continue to improve handling and ride quality a bit more over time.

I'm incredibly surprised to read that the Gravity had cheap, low-rent interior and build quality, and the Rivian's interior was much higher quality.

Last time I sat in an Air, it seemed really well-appointed.

I’ve driven two of their cars and absolutely loved them, but was disappointed just sitting in that station wagon. It felt like a big downgrade.

I sat in a Gravity (didn’t drive it). Agree it felt cheaper overall. The design snd materials were premium, it just didnt feel as solid as a Rivian. Also does feel very minivan in person. Not for me.

i’ve test driven the Air twice and agree Lucids drive phenomenally. I just didn’t love the tech/UI and both of the cars i test drove had steering columns that made grinding noises at low speed, drove me nuts. Still like them though. but I more excited for the R2 Tri and Scouts.

Leasing Model 3 until R3X comes out, but now I have an R2 reservation as well.
Weird comparison, but glad the Rivian R1S “won”. I was surprised that they said the Lucid Gravity’s interior felt cheap. Were they trying to cut costs on a $100K vehicle?

I'd argue they are both crossovers and competes along with a Kia EV9. Sure it doesn't have the branding but in terms of usage, 3 rows, kids, that is where the 3 of these vehicles fight for domain.

The R1S could play in there too, but it really wasn't meant to IMO. It's a jack of all trades, master of none. Always ready for anything, it can do it all well, but it doesn't lead the pack. Consistently slotting in lower top tier of whatever it is you want to do.
