Radar Detector hardwire, who has done it?

For those looking for a windshield mount for late model Escort RDs (magnetic mount), I use this one:

It has adhesive for direct mount to windshield but does require you transfer your set screw/nut and detector contact portion from your Escort suction cup mount to this mount. Haven't had any failures (if you follow seller's instructions - ask me how I know ). Keeps the detector flush against the mirror housing allowing just enough room to hit the mute button. He even sends a small tool to tighten the set nut.

This is the best solution I've found for Escort and, when coupled with a 15" mirror tap, provides a clean install and works flawlessly (1+ yrs in original R1T, 2 months in 2nd R1T).

Also, seller's ( tscadfx )very responsive and easy to work with...when I screwed up my first one, he sent me another for free...hard to beat that. Hope this helps...

I picked up the hard wire pigtails to tap into the rear view mirror for my car. For now on the loaner I have it installed using USB - C to RJ11 for power and running it around the headliner / rubber seals

On my vehicle I will be using mirror taps listed below for a cleaner install.

I also picked up the Uniden R8 from Amazon in Like New with all accessories still sealed for $590. It's gone up slightly to $621 (300+ quantity in stock) but still available as certified refurbished direct from Uniden for $599. Couple options for you if you're interested in getting a similar setup.

It is a different mount. I have offered to modify the design for Escort detectors if someone sends me a suction cup mount (new or used).

Not sure how I missed this. Want me to just model it and/or send a mount?
Fusion360 or SW are my preferred if that helps.

For those who use the Mirror Tap, would you be interested in a mount like this so that you don't have to attach to the windshield? I normally would go with the blendmount route, but it seems like its a crapshoot if one will actually fit and allow the rear view mirror to be adjusted.

I would be very interested in purchasing one mount + shipping for Uniden from you.

I can confirm, like a few others, that I had success with the BlendMount BMG-3032 and a mirror tap on my 2025 R1S. Here are some pictures of the completed install. Thanks to everyone for sharing the information!

I installed the radar detector but noticing that it’s always on when in garage and Rivian is locked.
Anyone noticed the same or any idea when it turns off? I have a uniden r4

If I'm not mistaken, the Rivian still provides power (a very small amount) to power devices for a couple of minutes after you exit the vehicle. Try this.....exit the vehicle and check again in about 5 minutes. The unit should be shut down. Note: If it is still on, check again after 10 minutes. I think you'll find that the unit has shut down.

But you need to check without having your phone or key fob on you. Otherwise it'll wake up on approach and turn back on.
