Dang, a compass yellow, ocean coast, black 20” wheel R1T. If it was an R1S I would probably pull the trigger on it. My ideal spec!

FYI: Referral codes do not work with Demo vehicles.
Source: we just bought a Demo R1S for the wife. There was nowhere to enter it throughout the entire process and the Rivian Sales rep specifically told her the Referral Codes are only for brand new (Shop and Configuration) vehicles.

Perhaps more wrong information from sales reps, @R1Thor. Or your wife misunderstood -- but, sadly, I think miscommunication within Rivian is the more likely explanation.

My understanding is that Referral Codes work only for R1 Shop purchases, not for Configuration or for Demo.

Very best wishes!

Potentially correct (the part where you are positing where the miscommunication occurred), and I might've had it incorrect as well. My point, however, was to indicate that the Demo vehicles were decidedly not eligible for referrals, as the OP had offered.

They should be, in my opinion. Or at least I wish they were ;)

I appreciate the clarification.

Anybody know if there is a predictable time of the month new demo vehicles drop into inventory? I'd been checking daily for nearly a month without any discernible changes and sadly gave up... Then today checked again after a couple weeks off and noticed a fresh (to me) batch of 7 that are now showing "in stock" with some new configs instead of "sale pending"

Launch edition with 100 miles.. what has this thing been doing for 3+ years?

Hard to say; that's a steal!
That said, I'd take the mileage with a grain of salt--good chance that's just being reported incorrectly.

Ours varied a bit when we picked ours up (not egregiously so, and it was still under 2,000 miles).

When we picked ours up, the Rivian rep helping us even remarked he didn't realize they still had any vehicles still on the lot that were demo-sale eligible, so. This one might've just been hanging out on a back lot somewhere forgotten about.

I had a loaner a few months ago that was a launch edition with 800 miles. Funny they are still floating around out there. Made me miss my Gen1 !

I purchased a demo 2022 R1T a little over a year ago. It was still at the factory. Mine was listed as 100 miles and had 107 miles on it when it got to me. As far as this one goes, since it's located in Denver, I would suspect this is one that was inside the showroom for people to look at.

I seemed to remember that when sale pending transactions would fall through and get marked as Available, that was sometime in the late morning. I had a specific config I was looking for and would check a few times each morning to see if one of the other pending sales had fallen through and a desired vehicle was marked as Available. They seemed to keep the inventory about constant at 100 total vehicles and then when actual sales would complete, those would be replaced with new demo vehicles. Now that they have worked through most of their original demo fleet, I don't know how many more will be added soon. Maybe as they start replacing Gen 2 demo units with 2026 Quad models....
