Not sure what "CPO" means in this context.

Lease returns are mostly not high-mileage (due to mileage-overage charges) and should still have much of the 5Y/60,000 warranty, and most of the 8Y/180,000 warranty, remaining with the vehicle. I'd buy one, at the right price. I suppose any burden could be too much, but returns of 2022-2025 and 2023-2026 leases don't seem to me to be a company-killer.

Almost Every Rivian owner I know and its over 10 all have leased the R1. Rivian is going to have a huge problem with inventory of preowned cars they can't move in the next 10 months. Rivian really needs an extended warranty, or they are goanna be stuck. Who wants to touch a $55k preowned car that will need 4-8k in replacements less than 1 year into ownership. This will actually be a death sentence for the brand.

I paid cash. Paid cash for the Corvette also but not the Tesla.

Oddly, stock up 17 cents today. I feel like the constant stream of "bad news" would have it heading in the other direction. Of course, markets rarely match actual company performance. Or maybe the news just hasn't caught up yet?

The standard solution for this is CPO with warranty. Pretty standard way to sell lease returns without having to provide extended warranty for all customers.

Correct… the problem is every other brand offers a CPO warranty to cover wear and tear items and Rivian does not. The suspension problems should not be happening at such low mileage. I can see the issues at 120-150k miles like other similar systems but 67k is unacceptable.

Not here. Toyota’s have always been boring appliances driven by people who aren’t even connected to driving. At least that’s the norm here in NC. Most dont even know their high beams are on

Well, honestly not all Toyotas are boring. I had a Celica and a Supra last century that were a lot of fun to drive with the manual transmission. I am going to be nice and not say how much I disliked a Prius I owned at one point

Mine were just replaced at 20k. I am not defending Rivian. Unreliability is not unique to Rivian and car companies have a standard practice to address the problem, without blowing their budget. Engines blowing up on certain German cars around 60 -100k aren't uncommon and they cost much more than the suspension.

CPO is certified pre owned with warranty. Agree, most lease returns will be under warranty.

You can't blame it all on the elections. They've also mismanaged a pile of cash over the last few years (ie how many spaces do they really need, when service is perpetually behind because of QC issues out of the factory). It would be very shortsighted for Rivian not to have planned for a change of power and the changes that could introduce to the EV sales environment, yet here we are.

400*0.8 = 320 for 20% loss due to highway speed. Maybe more if you really like to drive fast. 320*0.80 = 256 for winter driving on the highway. Throw in some rain, snow, and a passenger who doesn't want to be cold? Maybe closer to 200 miles.

not my experience at all. Last winter I drive my Max pack R1S from Boston to Syracuse during a really cold snap in December.

We left with 80ish percent and stopped when we wanted and only when we wanted, and for only as long as we needed to pee, eat, walk the dog, or whatever combination of them we wanted at the time. There were chargers every time and place we started to want to stop and we had options to find the one that was best. A rest area? Ok. A Dennys for a midnight snack? Sounds good!

Importantly we didn’t ever even think to try to fully charge. We just charged for as long as we were there at that stop. Ultimately I think we arrived with 10 or 15% left when we plugged in at the hotel.

If we were driving a dino burner we’d have filled up with gas once. But that would have meant a bunch of stops to pee without gassing up. And probably moving the car from a parking spot to the gas station or at least pump.

I see these people talking about needing to have the range to drive 400 or 500 miles in one go and think they’re crazy. You want to drive at 75 mph for 5 or more hours without stopping? Really?! I just don’t believe them.

Yeah I’m sure someone will say they do it all the time. But you, sir or madam, are weird.
