Halloween Mode NOT WORKING?

For me it was as simple as restarting my phone and then, voilá. Same initial issue as everyone else. Nothing worked. Same WiFi, tried a soft reset and still nothing. As soon as I reset my phone everything worked as should.

Yes, in park. I’ve tried it multiple times. As I said, last year’s Halloween stuff worked for me with no issues.

I’m having the exact same issue. 2023 rev 1, R1S.

Update: Put in Drive and back to Park and it works now.

Just did a hard reset on the vehicle and now we’re up and running. At least I think… it seems to only do “stuff” on the inside. For Gen1 I thought that we’d get exterior lights and sounds still, or no? When I switched through the different exterior options, the front light bar would send a green light from left to right and that would be it. Meanwhile, I can hear the interior bumping some “spooky” music. I dunno. Overall, I feel like last year’s BTTF and Knight Rider costumes were cooler. Maybe that was just the nostalgia factor.

Same experience for my Gen 1. I assumed the "manual" mode for exterior lights with interior sounds meant that if I pressed one of the interior sound noises, it would also light up the green light bar. It will only light up the one time if I change the theme.

That said, motion activated seems to work just fine with the light bar..

Update: still nothing.

• Have disconnectes phone from vehicle twice, removed all Bluetooth connections, rebooted phone and vehicle and reinstalled and reconnected app. Nothing.
• Put in drive then park, out in reverse then park, sat in vehicle and walked out of vehicle. Nothing.
• Soft reset. Nothing.
• Hard reset x3. Nothing.

The vehicle simply doesn't see the app making any action. All other app functions work; climate, charge limit, access options, etc. It's just the spooky part of the app. Makes me think an update is in order.

An R1S and R1T both gen 1. Tried everything. Nothing!

Tried it - didn't help. Updated app two days ago. Got vehicle update yesterday, downloaded, installed. Doesn't work. Wife updated her app, rebooted both iPhones, neither phone get it work.

1. Soft reset vehicle - nothing
2. Hard reset vehicle - nothing
3. Went for a drive, parked - nothing
4. Deleted app off iPhone, rebooted iPhone, re-downloaded app, re-paired to vehicle - nothing

While this is not the first issue we've had with the vehicle in our 13 months of ownership, it is the first OTA update we've had an issue with.

Unrelated but why can't we keep these themes as options to use later? I wouldn't mind still having last year's available. I get if there was a licensing cost, but all the trouble of making and then disappear seems like a waste.

My Spooky mode worked for 3 days. It has now ceased all activity.

Got it to work yesterday.

Today it doesn't work. Followed the same steps.

Wiiffi - take the car out of park, put it in drive, then back in park. Shut the phone off, refreshed the app. Blah Blah Blah. Sucks!

Software sucks. It shouldn't be this difficult.

Sorry, did I mention it sucks?

Same here… this update is massively buggy for gen1. Having more issues on top of spooky mode not working at all! It did work sort of…’once but was after a soft reset… and still was buggy. I was messing with WiFi to try to see if I could get it to work. And when I started to change WiFi settings the spooky mode just started when I was about to enter a WiFi password. But never actually changed WiFi at all. Anyhow, I’m bummed with the software lately. All other Halloween updates in the past work well. And hoped this year we could use our vehicle with the software for trick or treaters. Albeit gen2 would have been better.
we have r2 on preorder and will get r3X but hope the software for these vehicles get better. As gen1 R1’s are pretty bad, and pretty slow too. Otherwise love the vehicle for the most part.
wish this was actually tested in gen1’s… seems Rivian has abandoned the gen1’s
