Searched a lot for info on this but didn’t find a whole lot, hopefully this can help someone who may be in a similar situation.

After doing the White Rim in Utah on 22” range wheels (probably not the best decision), bit the bullet and got 20’s. Was trying to figure out a way to air them back up when getting off the trail. Used to have a 6 speed FJ and used a Viair that I’d hook up to the 12v battery. Not wanting to mess with going under the seat or the tub in the frunk to get to the 12v battery to hook up a compressor, and knowing that compressors that plug into the 12v outlet are good for emergencies, but not for airing up 4 high volume tires regularly, this is what I came up with.

Wanted to use the 110v in the bed, straightforward and easy to get to. Enter a 110amp transformer. Could have gone smaller, but the compressor I will use jumps to 90amps at start up. This steps the 110v down to 12v. Bonus, it will charge the lithium battery in our teardrop trailer.

Modify a U bracket to make leads to attach the compressor’s alligator clips to.

Went with Morrflate compressor and 4 wheel hose set. Sean at Morrflate was incredibly helpful, giving me information on amp loads and suggesting the transformer they use for in house testing. Being able to fill all four tires at once is pretty amazing. And the chucks actually fit in the VERY tiny space around the valves.

So happy I could figure this out. Was surprised that there was not more information available, or maybe I just wasn’t looking in the right place, which is entirely possible too!

Hope this helps, happy to answer questions, and let me know if I missed something!

Sorry but I am confused….doesnt the RiT have a “built in“ compressor like the R1S? I have done the White Rim glorious trail in my R1S. When I got to the top, I merely pulled over and pulled out the kit that hooks up to the built in compressor and aired up. What am I missing here? I haven’t had my coffee yet ))

It's optional now.

It's only an option on the Dual Motor Standard Range trim. Should be included on all the others.

Or you can do this without needing to draw power from the vehicle. Just another option.

There are also portable compressors that can be plugged directly into the 120V outlet. Lowe's Kobalt has one: https://www.protoolreviews.com/kobalt-120-volt-tire-inflator/

And there are other 4-tire inflation kits out there besides Morrflate. They do have very nice hardware, I'll give them that, like the closed-air chucks that are slightly smaller than the standard brass ones. Some wheel designs do not provide enough clearance for the standard ones (like the factory 20" "staples" style). And they can be bought separately from Morrflate. I chose Speedflate's kit because of their coiled hoses. They stay off the ground, no chance of tripping or being run over. And it packs away clean and fast in a standard sized camping stuff sack. And having hoses that stay off the ground is nice when you go in the desert, where just about every plant has thorns.

I use a Milwaukee inflator.

I bought “off the floor” to get the rebates from Rivian, and wasn‘t included unfortunately. Would have been nice to have it for sure!

Interesting! Thanks for the link! I guess the only downside would be taking up a bit more space, and refilling, but it sounds like he’s gotten over 17 cycles of airing up and down and still hasn’t emptied the tank.

I mainly went with the Morrflate because they were one of the few companies that responded when I told them what I was trying to do, so far so good, will be interested to see how they hold up being drug on the ground.

There was an extensive thread on the 120v compressors which was really informative, but overall they just don’t push the air I was looking for. The compressor I went with pushes 10 CFM at 0 PSI and then settles into 6 CFM around 30 PSI. And doing them all at once is a lot faster than it used to be with my Viair for sure!

Hopefully the durability is there 🤞

“And the chucks actually fit in the VERY tiny space around the valves” - thanks for this bit of info.

We have the same wheels and yep those recessed valves are PITA to reach.

Do the chucks snap-in or screw-in the air valve?

Morrflate's chucks clip on and hold, once you push the collar away from you.

The early ones actually have two compressors. An ARB one that is for airing up tires and a Bosch? one for the suspension. I'd probably just plumb an air fitting off the suspension tank and use that to air up the tires if I didn't have the second one. Have to check the tank pressure to see how high it gets.

Power tanks work well too and can be refilled at welding supply houses. I scuba dive so I've got an adpater, I never use, to also air up. I'm just not keen on adding Nitrox to my tires.

Good looking wheels! We really love ours. Yes, Morrflates are the clip on chucks. Still can be a bit challenging, but WAY better than trying to screw anything onto them. The valve caps are tough enough! 😳

But if you added Nitrox, just think how much longer the tires could stay down when you ford water, the bottom time would be amazing! 😀

Maybe I'll use deco gas. Trimix is way pricey these days. 🤔
