did you replace the 12V batteries and at what mileage? Also, what are the warning signs or sounds of issues with suspension and / or half shafts were acting up for those that have had issues?
Yes, that was replaced around 85k miles, but it was still under warranty so didn't pay anything for it. I didn't have any real warning signs on the suspension. There was some noises when it would raise and lower, but didn't think anything about it.

I'm not a technical car guy, so I tend to be at the mercy of their recommendations. We live on a dirt road which can get some bad wash boarding, so it didn't surprise me they needed work. I didn't notice anything from a drive feel.

Was there any warning message for your 12V before they replaced them?
Service advisor told me they will only replace under warranty if there's warning message or tests failed.
Asking because I have an appointment next week for comprehensive test before my 3-year warranty expires for 12V batteries.

Yes, I had a warning message. I was able to get into service within a week.

Out of warranty now @ almost 64k. Been very happy with ours. Probably would have purchased the warranty if Rivian sponsored it, but I've been burned a couple times with third party warranties. Not doing it again. We feel like we got a good one. Very little outside recall stuff. Will likely grab an R2 when available, but a used '22 with the old Meridian sound is a tempting option at a similar price point.

Common Pain Points:
Tonneau - still working (keeping it clean and well lubricated)
Tires - 40k on the Nokian Outposts
12v - done
Front half shafts - done
Sub-frame - Seems fine (No off-roading here)
Airbags - Seem fine (Auto kneel still engaged)

Miss anything?

For about $275, Rivian will do a full panels-off inspection on your vehicle, and I highly recommend it if you're approaching the end of your warranty. I had zero symptoms or warning signs, yet Rivian found, and replaced, two struts, two control arms, and a few other components under full warranty. They easily could’ve missed or ignored it, but they didn’t. Huge thumbs-up to Rivian for stepping up.

As a counter to this, I’m at about 55k miles and paid Rivian for the same comprehensive inspection. All they found were chips in the windshield. Literally everything else came back with a green checkmark. Does that mean I have a Goldilocks R1T? Or the service center didn’t look closely enough. I’m hoping it’s the former!

To add on to this thread, I had my rear motors replaced very early on (issue was with the disconnects) but have had zero service needs since then. I plan on keeping this one as long as I can. I’m also considering the aftermarket extended warranty. I need to decide in the next few months.

I did not know that. Will have to do that if/when I get closer. Cheers.

I had $3k in repair work done at ~63k miles completely comped/free by Rivian without me asking for it. I paid for a comprehensive inspection done ~57k miles before the 60k bumper-to-bumper was up. I don't think this company overall is trying to do anyone wrong. Also, I think the first set of people that get to 100k may get some preferential treatment.

If you think something is potentially an issue at all, I would suggest making a separate service item when you turn your car in for that last comprehensive inspection. Maybe let the technician know this is your last warranty visit if they do a ride along with you before you turn it in. They might advocate for that borderline repair issue. I also think any specific issue that Rivian has documented but didn't "solve" with your vehicle before the warranty is up gives them more of a reason/responsibility to help post-warranty.

Any of you with 60k+ miles replaced the 12V batteries without any warning message or call from service center?

Getting some data points as some people said they last for 3 years (or less in some cases).

I'm almost at 30k miles (3 years) and about to take a 2000+ mile road trip, scheduled an appointment for battery checkup before then.

Debating whether to pay $800+ to replace them out of pocket just to be safe, assuming they don't fail the checkup (hence not covered by 3-year warranty)

70k+ miles, 2.5 years, December '22 build. I've had no battery replacement, warning, call, or issues whatsoever. I think that the 12V battery issue was more prominent with '23 builds.

We just hit 90K ourselves and Tug-E is still going strong (since June 2022)!

Question to the OP - are you burro racing?
Sure am!
