Silverado is only a dual motor, and that horsepower figure is quite wrong.

I am sick of others reviews. It is their opinions and most of these reviews are from average people who don’t know much about anything.
It’s like my sister who says , you can’t buy that food unless it is Bobby approved.
Ugh!!!!
I do agree with him though. Rivian is the best!

He also totally ignores the Cybertruck, saying these two are the ONLY electric pick-up trucks available, thus completely loosing credibility in the first paragraph.

He also says the R1T has "one of the best surround sound systems" -- really? I'd hate to hear the Chevy's.

The review reads like a comparison of spec sheets rather than a systematic evaluation of driving parameters. Show me the test set-ups, the measured values, the limitations of your test and then the subjective perceptions.

Now, don't get me wrong, I purchased an R1T, never driven the Chevy, but I can't take this review with any seriousness.

While my G1 R1S QM AT was in the VN SC for trunk latch repair, I got a Silverado EV as a loaner. This was the basic work truck model and it felt like it. Very crude. Not exactly apple to apples comparison w/R1S since it's only 50% of R1S price, but wasn't impressed at all.

Are we really that insecure? Reading the posts here almost had me thinking the reviewer picked the Silverado.

At the end of the day these are targeted at different buyers though there would be some overlap. If you were looking for a truck that was primarily for work or towing the Silverado would be better with the midgate and large bed and battery. For my lifestyle the Rivian is the better choice as I usually don't need the large bed capacity or huge battery and prefer the sportier ride.

Did you read to the end? Author literally wrote "Winner: Rivian R1T" and "Without question I’d recommend the Rivian R1T."

I did read it that is why I was surprised by some of the responses in this thread picking on the review, I figured from the responses the review might have had a lot of nit picking.

My comment was about Tom's Guide content in general. Each one starts out with something along the lines of "I review [x-y-z] for a living and this is what I think". As if that makes them an expert. Well, I pee multiple times daily, does that make me a board-certified urologist?

Their reviews almost always have flaws, regardless of conclusion. It's not a good site. It's just yet another box of noise on the internet.

Did this site start out as Tom's Hardware? If so, it used to be a great source of PC hardware news and reviews....

Probably. But as with everything that started good but then evolve to turn a profit...

A rising tide floats all boats.

I'd love if GM/Ford/Stellantis/Toyota et. al. all developed and sold (and kept selling) EV truck offerings.

Sucks that Ford/GM are "recalibrating" their EV plans.

I test drove and really enjoyed some of what the Silverado EV offered, especially the spacious back seats for dogs.

Hated the horrible GM tech.
