Hey folks-

This year winter has been robust up here in Maine, and so my rear camera is constantly covered in road grime. Anyone have a nifty solution for shielding it, 3d printed or otherwise?

thanks!

Can't you just run the rear window washer a bit more frequently to wash off the camera?

I hope someone has an elegant solution. Problem with the rear camera is the vapor from the road kicks up from below so kind of hard to stop it without blocking some of the camera view. Would have been nice if a washer nozzle was included.

My 2023 R1S has a washer nozzle that operates every time I use the rear window wash feature. Did not realize they did not include it in the Gen 2.

This is my R1T. I posted it in the R1T section but it was moved here…sigh

My apologies. What a terrible oversight on the design side. I use that thing every day in the winter...

Thread title...R1T - Truck.

You have a R1S - SUV, that has the washer nozzle and your camera is mounted higher up. Us poor truck souls have it lower in the bumper where it gets dirty and no nozzle.

My bumper cam is near useless as I live on a dirt/gravel road. I usually resort to the bed camera but it's not very useful for gauging distance.

No worries! Yes, my wife’s R1S clears pretty well with the rear wiper fluid, alas, not the same for us truck folks

One note of caution for all the R1T owners, be careful when you clean your rear camera lens because it is easy to scratch the plastic cover if you’re not careful. Don’t ask me how I know that.

This guy made a shield for it but never posted the file to print your own. I don't think he sells them either which is weird.

This would be good for rain or glare but not for wet roads or snow as it will just come up from the mist we all create when driving.
us in NY have the awful salt they use. And they use A LOT of it so even if it is not snowing in the winter it still gets covered with a white film which is hard to get off unless you lick your finger first and then rub it :puke:.
they should add a cleaner like in the R1S for the next gen.
